Gentry is a good coach and would be a great hire. The people posting Gentry's record and not putting it in any context is somewhat laughable. Phil Jackson could have been coaching most of those teams and they still wouldn't have made the playoffs.

The halftime shows would be epic.

I wish we could get Phil. I agree 100% with him on LSD being an eye opening experience.

So his whole 12 year career as a coach can be blamed on the players he had.. Don't make excuses the dude sucks

So far, the leaked names definitely fit the same profile. All vet coaches with HC experience.

At this point I'd rather have monty

He certainly wouldn't be crossing his arms and pouting ala monty.

Gentry would be better than Monty, he'd at least be as sucessful, but definitely be more entertaining.

I think my number one is Kenny Atkinson.

Losing record as a head coach. Should we be excited?

I think it's less likely we wait out the Thibs sweepstakes. I suspect we'll request permission to talk to Atkinson next. Meet with Malone. Maybe talk with Hoiberg. Perhaps D'Antoni. Don't see JVG leaving the booth.

I think it likely comes down to Gentry, Atkinson, and Malone. We'll see.

He is a great offensive mind. There's no doubt about that.

It's not unheard of for coaches to improve. Terry Stotts and Doc Rivers had losing records before finding success. Rick Carlisle was fired from 2 jobs before finding a place in Dallas.

Gentry has questions, but he's the name I like the most out of all the rumored targets. Guys like Atkinson are intriguing, certainly. But, they have to blow the team away in interviews to overcome lack of experience. Unless he clearly separates himself from more seasoned candidates, there's far too much riding on the next few years to take a chance on a young guy.

I'll say this: I'd much rather Gentry over JVG.

Yeah. It's tough to tell with JVG. He has moments where he says things that are so on the money and impressive and others where it's like he is stealing lines from Reggie Miller. Stan is sharp, they obviously talk shop. Where does his on air act end and the coach begin?
