Dame has 4 years left on his deal. He doesn't really get a say in where he goes unless he's willing to retire. And if Portland is willing to take $0.50 on the deal just to send him to the Eastern conference then they're complete morons. Unless Detroit is willing to swap #1 for Dame who else is coming close?

Portland might not want to trade in conference
Portland trades Dame they will more than likely be going full rebuild mode (helps Pels even more as they can send NAW, Kira, Hayes and all the picks). It would actually be advantageous to them to trade in conference, the more teams better than them in conference while trying to tank, the better their pick becomes.
They wouldn't have to worry about facing him in the playoffs for 3-5 years, when he would be 34-36 years old.

I feel bad for Portland. Lillard always talked about wanting to stay with Portland for his entire career and building a winner on his own.

I know I’m bigger on NAW/Hayes than most, but if we could get Dame for BI and picks and keep NAW/Hayes, I would be pumped!!

Have you not been following this?

That fan base has been shitting on Dame for months now with their SJW ways. From coaching suggestions to him complaining about moda center being the only arena to not have fans

Jesus Christ just for one day can you all leave the fricking politics at the door?
Kinda hope we do trade for him to watch you all fricking melt when he shows up at the first BLM rally to make a speech like he did in Portland.
He ain’t your secret conservative friend and this ain’t the politics board.

Leave it at the door? That’s literally the entire catalyst for the “Dame being potentially available in Portland” rumors.
No one here mentioned politics. No one thinks he is conservative lol. This is about Portland. Portland is an obnoxious, activist city that will cancel anyone at any time for almost any reason. That’s the ENTIRE reason for this fricking rumor.
You people can be so “above it all” that you literally frick your brains blind.

Lol, no it’s fricking not.
The Dame growing frustrated saga goes back multiple seasons now. It didn’t start because he fell into some red pill fantasy you all have concocted in your head. The guy he was responding to in the other thread was from fricking Toronto.
Y’all projecting HARD

Here are Portland's total draft picks for the past seven years (2014-present):
2015 1 23 Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (traded to Brooklyn)
2017 1 15 Justin Jackson (traded to Sacramento)
2017 1 20 Harry Giles
2017 1 26 Caleb Swanigan
2018 1 24 Anfernee Simons
2019 1 25 Nassir Little
2020 1 16 Isaiah Stewart (traded to Detroit via Houston)
2020 2 46 C. J. Elleby
You see the problem? Out of the 14 picks that they should have had, they have actually only ended up with 8 picks to use during these seven years, and they traded three of those away after they drafted them. What they have been doing the last seven years is chasing their tail the way that we did under Demps, constantly trading away the future to try to win now, win now, win now.
So, they never had a future. They've been so busy trying to keep Dame happy that they never gave themselves a chance to win a title.
We should all be able to relate.

Which is why I’ve hated the idea of trading Ingram less and less. It sucks…but he affords you having to send SO much else out the door.

What. Are. You. Talking. About.
Literally nothing in this story has any thing to do with red pill, left/right.
Nothing. It’s about Portland’s bitchyass cancel culture ways.
Curious…what conservative “red pill” quality are we bringing to this conversation and projecting on to Dame? Be specific

This is correct, for the reasons I outlined above. Dame has been increasingly frustrated with his inability to get over the hump (Jrue had something to do with that one year), and the Blazers have gotten more and more desperate to try to keep him happy by trading picks to put immediate talent around him.
The SJW stuff is just the surface stuff that people are talking about because of Billups. It's an annoyance to Lillard, to be sure, but it's not the main reason he wants out. He wants out because he knows that he'll never win a title in Portland.

Dame may not want to play here seeing how Zion has already made his displeasure known.
He may not want to, but he very well may want to. It’s an opportunity to play next to Zion, and either BI or NAW and Hayes, potentially with Zo. on a team that has already said it would go into the tax if it has a roster that can compete.
The Pels are not as bad as some want to believe. We have talent and we have assets. We need the right mix of players dedicated to winning, and that sounds a lot like a recipe that needs someone like Dame.
I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but if he goes on the market, we are a logical landing spot, and I’m confident he wouldn’t be opposed if winning with a team he can command is his goal.

I don't think the issues are that separate. The latest bit of news came out because of the alleged rift with Dame and Ownership over the coaching issue.
Multiple sources had earlier reported that the owner, Jody Allen, wanted to hire a woman for political, virtue signalling reasons. It was probably hard enough for Olshey to talk her down from that, and do what was needed to keep Dame another year. Now not only is she not the female champion she hoped to be, the prospect of hiring Billups with his baggage is probably getting local pushback from the same people she hoped would be singing her praises over Becky Hammons.
This situation appears to be deteriorating because the star and the owner aren't on the same page and don't want to be.
Maybe this is just a game of chicken and the owner eventually caves, but Billionaires generally don't like losing to millionaires.

Now, we see whether this is enough to keep Dame. I'm thinking that POR still needs to somehow make a trade that convinces Dame that this year's team will be better.

He went to Haynes after the Billups news was already out. Woj just made official what im sure Dame already knew.

They are going to make moves one way or the other.
My guess is they go all out and keep him
