Im not sure I really follow this line of thinking. The Pelicans already have a generational talent in Zion. Now they just need good, solid role players to play around him. Murphy is exactly that. No need to try and swing for the fences when we already have the star…

Explain the Warriors?

I’m not saying I don’t like Murphy, I actually think he is a low key really good pick that will be in this league a long time as a solid role player.

But the idea that the Pels can rest on their laurels and should be avoiding high upside guys because we already have a few, when reality is this still isn’t a playoff team, may actually be taking some steps back if we lose Lonzo, is ridiculous.

So, we shed the contracts of Bledsoe and Adams and still got one of the best shooters in the draft that has size. That sounds like an A+ draft to me.

I think the addition of Murphy makes Hart expendable. Murphy will be able to play 2-4 as a 3 and D guy. My opinion is that we will draft a stretch 4 at 35, resign ball and go after Lowry on a 2 year overpay. It makes perfect sense.

Like the player, pick and fit

but being 1 pick away from Haliburton last year and 1 pick away from Sengun this year is rough

We got solid guys at a solid value in both drafts, but the slot ahead of us got the surefire multi time all star

Zo/NAW
Ingram
Zion
Sengun
Jonas/Hayes

Would’ve loved the size on that team. Definitely wouldve needed some Murphy shooting types to fill the roster, but in the nba you get the stars and you figure it out as you go.

Houston trading to 16 vs 18 tells me Sengun might have very well been our pick.

You can build good teams in different ways. Zion is a unique, generational talent and Murphy has the shooting to capitalize on the opportunities Zion will give him

Jesus god this board is insufferable. Someone with range to keep players from collapsing on zion passing driving lanes is exactly what this team needs.

He’s one of the two best 3 point shooters in the entire draft. Elite spot shooter. Decent D. Can’t do much else.

I can’t think of a guy more different from him than Simmons.

Fun Bunch,

Awesome! I’m more excited for this kid than I was previously.

Would you say he is a 3 & D with upside or is there more to him?

Who did they swing for the fence on? Guys outperforming their projections doesn't mean they swung for the fence. Klay was supposed to be a 3 and D. Draymond just hardworking defender with some offensive skills.

You’d rather overpay a guy like Duncan Robinson using most or all of our space and draft a guy who may be good in 3 years over just taking a guy who can shoot over 40% from 3 and pay him ~ $3 million?

This young man is a perfect fit we need a spot up shooter. I don't care if he can't create off the dribble we already got guys who do that. If he did shot alot off the dribble I could already hear the meltdowns on here "what are you doing playing Iso ball give it to Zion"

Yeah he’s a 3&D guy. He has some upside since his size and length is upper echelon for the position. But he was Junior. He’s got a lower ceiling than a lot of guys.

As I said the basic info I got on him indicated a athletic guard who is better on D than offense.

I’m not gonna feel stupid though for being ignorant on the 17th pick in the NBA draft.

This is such a whack response.

Just admit you took a shot and something stupid.

The whole “pffttt who cares about the thing anyway” is something an annoying 11 yr old does.

It’s the 17th pick. You know he will be an immediate upgrade for the teams shooting. If your team has a significant need, and you can draft someone this late in the draft that will 100% address that need, you do it.

The Athletic compared him to Ariza. I've also seen comparisons to Mikal Bridges. He's going to be a good role playing starter, not Brandon Ingram's replacement.
