He is limited offensively but in the exact opposite way as Ben. Everything Ben is elite at on offensive Trey isn’t good at. Everything Ben is terrible at on offense Trey is elite.

Trey is a one trick pony offensively. Very limited. But it’s a goddamn good one trick.

However he fits perfect on this team. We needed an outsider guy who can hit at a consistent rate. Murphy is that guy who has shot over 40% in 3 years. He won’t do much ball handling and that’s totally fine.

I imagine he operates on Beetlejuice rules, so I’m afraid to post too much about him

Henderson,

Im gonna take Chad’s advice & say F that noise. Just bc Simmons is the worst comp PR speaking at present that doesn’t make it wrong.

How accurate would this dude have to be at 3’s to compare him to Simmons ability to get to the rim?

It may not match perfectly but if I have to I’ll smash the fudge out of this round peg to make it fit in the square hole.

Simmons is a ball handler and creator who can’t score outside of layups.

Murphy can’t dribble or create and shot 50 fg%, 40 3pt% and 90 ft%, the gold standard of shooting.

Fightin Tiger,

So his 3pt shooting skill equals out to Simmons ability to get the rim, factoring in the value of the shot / by reliability.

and his defense is less than Simmons…so Ben Simmons light.

frick it Kirby Pucket I stand by it.

The top draft prospect that I helped prepare for their interviews this year.

He’s my Tyrese Haliburton from last year.

Trajan Langdon says that both Trey Murphy III and Herbert Jones expressed a real desire to come to New Orleans, and that was key from the make-up package of potential prospects that the Pelicans were very interested in adding from the 2021 NBA Draft.

I thought this was a really good breakdown of Murphy. He's a better cutter than I thought but really needs work to become a movement shooter. Has good size and speed to get to the rim if over-pursued though.

He's not young but he's still figuring out his body because of his late growth spurt. I was watching an interview where he said he sometimes has to remind himself he's 6'9 and go over people instead of trying to be too creative. I've seen a couple times too where he remembered and he can flush it.

there’s also this thing called spacing that’s important in this league. Simmons ain’t scoring as much as you think with Zion on his team and very little shooting

Also Simmons can’t even be in at the end of games because he can’t shoot free throws. Murphy shot 94%

Either way it’s stupid to compare because they’re completely different players

Murphy looks like a beast. Definitely gives some shades of later career Ariza.

He’s so smooth, it shouldn’t take him long to develop a bit more of an inside game.

He dunks like a freaking monster. Really love this pick.

Macintosh,

I didn’t say Simmons would be a good fit on the pelicans.

I made a player comparison. 2 different things.
