Needs to lose 15-20 more lbs. that’s the biggest concern

Most teams won't be able to do that to Zion to the extent the Raptors can. They have long athletic monsters all over the court that can close out in a hurry.

On three of those TO's they fouled him. So there was that.

Went to go check out my Twitter feed and it’s at least 20 tweets from McNamara bitching about how much he dislikes Zion. Could be 30+ actually. Damn dude. Give it a rest.

Yea toronto was allowed to play extra hands on tonight against Zion. If there is one knock about Zion, it's his decision making. He has to recognize when teams are collapsing hard with 4 guys when he's on the perimeter and make the pass before he gets surrounded by defenders hacking at him off the dribble. He had the same issue against Miami in preseason and adjusted with some good passes. This is probably part of his development as a ball handler.

I'm not elite enough to bitch about Zion tonight.

I like following Pels people for content. And he makes good points sometimes.

But he has literally been obsessed lately with his “Zion actually sucks” take lately. It’s annoying. I get it.

Sounds like he has an agenda with those tweets and is looking for reactions. Either that or he's one emotional mental midget.

You gotta realize McNamara wants to cast a wide net on possible range of outcomes for everything so that he can say, “remember when I said”.

Yeah he's coming hard with the hot takes. Even going with the "I would go back and pick Ja instead". Yeesh.

I get enough Pels talk on the timeline with Guillory, Kosel, Kushner, Fisher, Grubb, Eichenhofer etc. without following a dude who cosplays a Mensa member with all of his vague generalities and contrarian takes.

Only things I dislike about Zion is his defense a lot of times and his lack of hustle back to that side at times, and his fitness.

Fixing the 2nd issue will help with the first, and SVG seems very intent on letting him play through it.

I don't think the turnovers tonight are going to be a constant.

Free throws are also worrisome but we've only seen 3 games so far (2 preseason). Way too early to call that.

But offensively, this kid is a monster. Give him the ball and let him eat or kick out.

I don't even know what his current twitter handle is or I'd go and get him to block me.

McNamara has consistently been terrible at evaluating talent and projecting players.

Guy wants to declare Zion a bust and Ja the better player one game into the season. Ja had a great game, and if we take our glasses off it’s not an unreasonable argument to this point, but at the same time it was always true that Ja was amongst one of the more ready-to-play guards coming out in some time and Zion was going to be someone, sort of like AD, that can dominate early because of his sheer physical stature, but was going to take years to reach his true ceiling.

Trust me I am well aware. I remember when he was a kid posting on Hornets Report as “CP3 and 11 Others” and he would do it but much worse.

I honestly respect his opinion on some things, and I appreciate negative and positive. There are some pretty honest negatives to take from this game (Turnovers, FT shooting), and Zion does have a lot to work on (weight, conditioning, effort, Defense, turnovers, awareness, etc)...

But he’s a little overboard trying to be the “well actually” guy after a nice win.

Yes and this is a fair criticism of him. Duke Zion seemed to constantly be 100% effort. He was Josh Hart levels of hustle. And now he seems to be pretty low energy.

Fair criticism

This nails his agenda to a tee.

Being right and the "I told you so" is the most important thing to him. And he does just that and says vague and wide ranging things then when anything happens, he says he called it .

Agreed. Anyone going that overboard with the Zion takes 30ish games into his NBA career when he's looked dominant (on the offensive end at least) at times over that span needs to take a breather. He's got many things to improve on, but that's to be expected when he hasn't even played half of a full season yet.
