Wow, if he gets picks and Hood, he is doing well.

Yeah, doubt that happens, he always asks for too much, but there is no universe where I see Ainge giving up Crowder's deal in that S&T without getting something back.

Hood would be way too much, but i could see Favors being an option. Boston has no rim protectors. though, an expiring, oft-injured, albeit talented, big man seems like too little for Crowder + another player from Boston (for salary matching). and Burks/Exum dont make much sense either.

we'll just have to see what shakes out. always drama in Boston

That's good for 40ish wins probably

Who's scoring on that team? I see a bunch of guys that can score in the low-mid teens. That team is fantastic defensively, but no offense.

Is Hood going to be good enough to carry an offensive load?

That's what Utah has said so I seriously doubt he's going to Boston. If Hood is out I wonder why Ainge didn't move on to a different deal with another team?

Damn. What could Houston have that Portland would want and what would the Knicks want from Portland (outside of Lillard and McCollum)? Seems like an odd group to get that done.

Knicks may look to take a bulky contract or two from the Blazers and Blazers take back all the scraps that Houston has.

Some pics were making the rounds at r/nba this morning of Melo at one of the HOU airports. Ryno has to be moving somewhere.

Blazers may get out of Crabbe/Turner and have to take on Ryno? Maybe Portland can get Gordon/Ariza instead.

Keep in mind talks are very early names that have been discussed are Anderson, Harkless, Myers, Melo. Talks are fluid.

ETA: this is re: the alleged beginning of talks for a 3 team trade that would put 'Melo in HOU

That would suck, another team that wasn't ahead of us (Portland) getting stronger. Although I think you could argue that this weakens Houston. Clint Capela's going to have to defend all 5 positions.

If Hou adds non-guarnteed deals of Quarterman and Taylor, then Ryno to POR, Melo to HOU, Leonard and Harkless to NYK works.

I don't really see what POR gains here? i would think POR is looking to shed salary and this just turns 2 $10M contracts into what would seem a more difficult to move $20M contract.

Ryno is twice as expensive as Leonard but he's actually effective as a stretch big. And maybe they're selling themselves on the same thing we had hoped for, that Ryno plus a defensive center balances out. Nurkic is better than Asik, but you need to be a freak like AD to make that pairing work.

I agree. I think Melo to Houston would cripple them in about two years time.

IMO there is almost no sense in trying to compete with the warriors on the court in the next two years. Got to wait and see what they do when Thompson and Green's contracts are up in two and three years, respectively.

Houston is trying to go head to head with them now and it wont work. Harden, Paul, and Melo doesn't stand a chance against Curry, KD, Thompson, and Green.

The Blazers are in an even worse salary situation than our squad. Portland will likely be the real winner in this deal especially if they can shed contracts. Maybe Dell can get in there and try to take Portland's place in a potential deal where we dump a contract (Asik plz) and a first rounder to NY.

I would think that Portland would want to send one of Turner or Crabbe and one of Aminu or Harkless to the Knicks. Then yes, sending Ryno and unguaranteed contracts to Portland, and Melo to Houston.

Picks may need to be involved for the Knicks to take those contracts.

If they're only giving up ryno for melo, I like the deal. If they're giving up depth, I don't think it makes them better.

It could be a ploy to get the banana boat squad together though lol

I'm absolutely convinced that Melo makes literally no team better. He's a bum.
