One thing the Spurs have been willing to pay in this price range for is culture guys that can give decent rotation player level contributions on the floor. Gasol's a 7 foot post scorer that still will be pretty useful off the bench where defense and switching onto starting caliber guards isn't as important. So maybe it's not as strange as it first seems if he helps sustain a culture that lets guys off the street jump in and contribute.

According to @WindhorstESPN, the Suns would consider trading Eric Bledsoe, Josh Jackson, and a Pick for Kyrie Irving.

Yeah that's not a bad haul at all. If they can somehow bring in the Knicks in and swap Love for Carmelo it would be an interesting retool for them.

It looks like blazers will be part of Knicks 3team trade of Carmelo. No they won't get Carmelo. Stay tuned
If true, means we are not part of the deal. It was a hope to unload a contract.

I agree. Sounds like a good return. Hope it does not happen though. Enough good players have already come to the west.

That would be good for the West imo. Irving/Booker are a questionable pairing, though individually very talented. Bailing on Jackson and I'm assuming a top 3ish protected 2018 on top of the non return for Bledsoe...for a ball dominant PG. In the NBA, when you can get stars, you kind of have to just go get them and hope for the best. You don't win without them. The Cavs would at least have a SF in the long term and someone to appease Lebron in the short term. Makes sense for both. Don't like it for PHX personally.

neither guard can play defense, it'd be a worse duo than Lillard-McCollum because McCollum doesn't need the ball in his hands at all times. I think Booker/Irving both do.

regardless of potential fit that's a much better return than what was given for cousins or george (or Paul)

Anyone seen the Derrick Rose contract?

$2.1 million??? Dude averaged 18 points a game. I know he ain't no spot up shooter but my god that's nothing for Rose. Cavs get him for zero risk.

Nobody wanted to give him real money and he had chosen minimum deal in the contender.
He bet on himself.

One year ago he was seeking max

pretty sure after luxury tax cavs are paying now, its way more bottom dollar than 2.1 mill

Rose will cost the Cavs approximately $14M this year even though he is only getting $2.1M. They obviously value him greater than his minimum salary.

the best thing about a good player demanding a trade is all the fake trade ideas

simmons

Wolves and Cavs would love it
Washington would like it
We would hate it

Wiggins sucks and we just lost any 3pt shooting on this team.

WTF?

So the Pels are going to send out an All-NBA player and a role player on a good contract for absolute shite? The Pels don't even get an All-Star back.

That is a ridiculous trade. The Pels would atleast have to dump their bad contracts in Asik, Ajinca, and get decent picks back.

But we get Frye.

There is absolutely no incentive for the Pels to make this deal. Such a moron.

Compared to everyone else in that trade: Cousins, Beal, and Irving are all better than him.
