If Kyrie goes West I think I will officially give up.

Wilson Chandler, Jameer Nelson, & Will Barton plus pick for Kyrie would be interesting

Kyrie listed the Heat, Knicks, Spurs and Twolves as the places he's interested in.

Pretty certain Simmons is trolling but...
There are other outlets reporting this, but they all quote Simmons as the main source. So yea...

the only real value Simmons has a basketball analyst is in the gossip/rumor area. no doubt he knows people across the league....whether or not they are using him to push their agenda is an open question

How did Pau Gasol manage a 3/48$ contract? That seems like way too much for a 37 year old.
Posted on 7/24/17 at 6:08 pm to Mystictiger
Partial guarantee on year 3. Think it's designed more as a 2yr deal, but why the hell would they do that. It has to be for a trade later... Right?
Posted on 7/24/17 at 6:56 pm to htran90
It seems very un Spursian. I'm not even sure you can argue the contract is built to trade with the new rules about trading guaranteed money only.

Kinda fits the MO of what they are doing in OKC though, positioning themselves to make a strong run to entice people to stay, but if everyone bounces in the offseason they are set up decently to make a run at another rebuild.

Panic move after whiffing on every trade target and FA they went after this year? Not wanting to move back, maybe they think they can keep up with GSW with Kawhi or at least keep it interesting. They certainly had them in Game 1. It feels like part of the Spurs model has always been "being in the conversation". Who knows what their perception would be if they fell back to earth without Duncan/Parker/Manu.
Posted on 7/24/17 at 7:15 pm to ShamelessPel
But I feel like that's what is a bit odd.
They never panic, because as an organizational principle they don't really put a ton of stake in FA and trades to begin with, so I can't imagine it is that.
They've also always been long-term thinkers. The Rudy Gay contract seemed reasonable enough, this though seems odd.
