The middle of the free agency market is where teams get the least bang for the buck, while the best investments tend to be on the extremes. This doesn’t mean teams should stay out of free agency altogether — there are still ways to find value in the middle of the market. Perhaps a team can correctly identify an undervalued player, or find one that is worth much more to their particular roster than to the rest of the league. Maybe they take a risk on someone with injury problems or personality questions and the player is able to overcome them.
But those are the exceptions. Trying to build a team through free agency is like trying to win a game with midrange jumpers. You can do it — but you’re much better off with corner threes.

We'd have to trade away Solo, Asik, Ajinca, Moore, and Toupane just to make that money work.
Look I know it's a long shot but it's plausible.

That's another great option I've seen

I really would not want to take on Ryno under any circumstances, especially if we are also getting Bledsoe. That is a lot of big contracts.

I agree, I was just trying to put something together that was agreeable for other teams while the Pels would be taking on Ryno and Bledsoe. It's not something that I'd want to do.
Just bored and throwing shite out there.

I gotta think that if we get involved in the trade, it would be for a much lower level player. I do not see us being about to get Bledsoe, especially since the Knicks are after him. Maybe we can somehow get involved and dump Asik and pickup Dudley or Lee in the deal.

The Spurs can only pay him about $8 with Early Bird Rights. If he turned down $9 I assume he's got a deal lined up so the Spurs think there's no point in having his hold.

Yeah they wouldn't, but a guy can dream!

I haven't seen anybody mention him, but anyone think that McDermott might be available? I guess he'll be George's back-up and I think he'll be a free agent this summer. What would it take (maybe of we took Singler's contract with him?)?

He's limited to the MLE for the first two years of any deal, or does that change once he becomes unrestricted?

Him being renounced changed that.

Pelicans officials are meeting with Rajon Rondo today in Louisville about a possible one-year deal, league sources tell ESPN.

Pelicans see Rondo-Holiday on floor together. There's real traction on a possible deal, league sources tell @ZachLowe and me.
Woj and Lowe aren't both going to get used. So does this mean we're dropping out of the Melo trade, or that we might actually be getting Ryno for real?
Posted on 7/13/17 at 12:22 pm to TigerinATL
Or maybe we're getting Ariza or Gordon and using our first to move Asik so we need a FA PG?

I hope not, unless someone is giving us a 1st round pick. I honestly would rather have Asik than Ryno, and I like Ryno, but his contract isn't what this team needs now with our 2 big men.
