Can confirm Pelicans interest in Rajon Rondo. Trade talks stalling for Reggie Jackson. DeMarcus Cousins wants Rondo.

Yeah makes sense
He'd be way less expensive and less risky than jackson(albiet with lower upside)
If we can get something good from the 4 way ill be stoked

Playing around in the trade machine, the only players you need to make the trade work salary wise are
Knicks - Asik, Quarterman, Onuaku
Rockets - Melo
Suns - Ryno
Pels - Dudley
The Knicks owe Melo $54 million, Asik and 2 Rockets on rookie minimum deals cut that bill in half. They may not need any more compensation since they are ready to move on from Melo. We'd trade Asik for another team's Ajinca in a heart beat, that's basically what the Knicks would be doing here with Melo for Asik instead of Ryno who is owed more money than Melo.
So now you need to pay Phoenix to take Ryno, taking Dudley covers about 1/3 of the bill. It seems like the Pels might have met their obligations and the rest of the bill should be due to Houston, no?

i get why the Knicks wouldnt want Anderson's deal. same time, i see some allure in playing him next to Porzingis.
Hardway is likely a bad deal, but the makings of something interesting, on offense at least, w/ Hardaway, Anderson, KP frontline.

thats the dream scenario for pels...dump asik without a pick and get back a semi-useful player on a good deal
regarding anything else back to PHX, a future rockets pick is pretty worthless, you'd think they'd want a NYK or pels pick. knicks arent gonna take asik AND send a pick...

Sounds like a Houston problem. It's not our fault they gave up most of the goodies in the CP3 S&T, something that usually never happens in situations where a star player is just leaving. I'm still pissed that they left the Clippers on the verge of relevance.

You are suggesting we send a pick to dump $25 million, well as I just laid out, we are saving the Knicks about $25 million, so why do they get out of sending a pick? They're the ones with the disgruntled player they stupidly gave a no trade clause to. It's our problem that they don't want Ryno? This all goes back to Houston not having the right expendable liquid assets. Maybe it will cost them Ariza or Gordon or Capella to get CP3 his banana boat buddy.
Would I rather pay a 2nd to turn Asik into Dudley than leave this trade and have to stretch Asik? Probably. But I see Dudley as a slightly better Cunningham at twice the price of what we could bring back Dante for, so I'd rather stretch Asik and bring back Cunningham than use a 1st to dump Asik.

Dudley is an expiring next year? If we can turn Asik into Dudley straight up, that would be a huge win.
Posted on 7/13/17 at 9:01 pm to SuperSoakher
NM Asik for Dudley straight up may be a stupid trade. Asik's extra non guaranteed year makes his stretch more valuable, and there's a real chance Dudley may never play meaningful ball again.
Thought the "expiring next year" post meant one year left.

Dudley makes $10 this year and $9.5 next.

Can we just have the Rondo shoe drop so we know we added SOMEONE this offseason that has potential to be a real difference maker.

Word on RealGM was that the Suns were getting him in a sign and trade before the Spurs decided they didn't want to eat Tyson Chandler's contract.

Asik may never play meaningful ball again. He can't even play meaningful bench
