That is 130M on just 6 players. The roster is 15 guys. Are the other 9 guys all going to be on minimum contracts? That is going to end up being a 160M in payroll..

That looks like a serious tax bill...

Yea that's not happening. Maybe you could swing a $15-20M player but not another max. Only guys I could see in that range are Avery Bradley and Gary Harris. And Harris is an RFA which Denver will almost certainly match an offer in that range. It's slim pickings in FA for wings in 2018

He started to at the end of the year. I think he and the refs will have a better relationship this year

change his image, he gets a few more calls.

But AD and he gets adequate calls, not Harden level calls, but its still up there

AD: 20.3 FGA - 8.6 FTA
Cousins in NO: 18.5 FGA - 7.1 FTA
Cousins in SAC: 20.3 FGA - 10.0 FTA

To Compare:
Westbrook 24.0 FGA - 10.4 FTA
Harden 18.9 FGA - 10.9 FTA
IT 19.4 FGA - 8.5 FTA
DeRozan 20.9 FGA - 8.7 FTA
Dame 19.8 FGA - 7.3 FTA
LeBron 18.2 FGA - 7.2 FTA
Kawhi 17.7 FGA - 7.2 FTA

I don't think they'll both get calls simply because the NBA will get pissed when our games are 4.5 hours long

He really does. It's rather ridiculous.

And rarely a call. There were several games last year where he had people hanging off of him and nothing was called. I completely understand why he loses his shite. Imagine sitting down to do those ever important TP reports and someone keeps punching you in the face...

For those interested read 42's piece on Pelicans waiting game at BSS.

Worth reading.
Consider Pels with their movements as a hard capped tax team. Even when they wont be a tax team.

So basically wait for trade. Or buyout on a discount...

One thing he talks about in there is getting Bledsoe by taking on Brandon Knight which is an angle we haven't explored much in depth here. So I fired up the trade machine and came up with

Pels - Bledsoe/Knight
Suns - Asik/Ajinca/Hawes/minimum from Bucks/Pels 1st + Bucks 1st
Bucks - E'Tuwan Moore/Pels 2nd

The Suns save $20 million long term turning Knight into Asik and get 2 1sts for Bledsoe. The Pels take on one of the worst contracts in the league but he can at least get on the floor as a backup and only give up a 1st for Bledsoe.

The trickiest part of this is getting a 1st out of the Bucks or some other 3rd team for Moore. You probably have to send another asset out, at least a 2nd, maybe a Diallo/Jackson.

Just think we need a pass first PG. We could sign Rondo and not give up a first.. still gotta rid of Asik/QP to make room so that could take a first in a separate deal. Just don't like the idea of adding a score-first guard to the starting lineup unless Bledsoe agrees to be the full time back up

Is the value for Bledsoe really two firsts plus a 20 million contract dump?

That seems high.

We need a back court player that can score. We've seen enough of jrue to know that he can't be that guy every night.

Especially if we're committed to Hill I just don't think Rondo/Rubio types will work out. Honestly the best fitting type of player is aggressive Jrue Holiday. Unfortunately we've only seen aggressive Jrue Holiday for about 2 months in 4 years.

If it was lower I think he'd already be a Pel. In addition to what he brings on the court, he's a Cousins' BFF off the court that would help convince Cousins to stay in NOLA.

How would this affect our ability to resign boogie without going into the tax? It sounds like we're taking on more money here so won't we be even more strapped for cash next year unless the cap takes a huge jump?
