It has been mentioned several times that they could offer up to their $8.4 million exception. Are you uptight because no one correctly guessed how much of that they would choose to use?

thought most were prorating this 8.4. that is the difference.

my point is just that the nba rules are confusing as all get out.

The NFL has a hard cap which makes things a lot simpler. The NBA has a soft cap that needs to balance the player's desires to maximize their money and mobility, the GM's desires to maximize their control of players, and the owner's desires to minimize labor costs. Each change usually comes out of adversarial negotiations and not thoughtful design.

I agree that it sucks we have not really developed a player through the draft besides AD, but when you look at who was taken with all of our traded picks, Dell is, more often than not, justified. And this is coming from someone who cannot stand Demps. Still salty about that Asik trade and the contracts he gave Asik and Ajinca.

Seeing lots of chatter on Tyreke and Lou Williams. Not really Pelicans related, but I do think Lou leaving LA would help the Clippers fall out of the playoff race, which the Pels need to have happen the way the Jazz are coming on.

Everybody is willing to trade for Reke. But nobody is willing to give up first.

Memphis will get two seconds at best. Which is great deal.

Agree that Lou traded for pick is great for NO chances.

doesnt' really matter. Of the 10 teams fighting for the 8 spots, the Clips seem disinterested in fighting for a spot, so that leaves 9 teams fighting for 8, and the way we look, we will be 9.

i'm not going to get crazy yet, but if this team finishes below .500, i'll have some irrational things to say.

You have to hope Jrue and Solo can shore up the defense and Niko can help solidify the offense. You also need to find a way to keep Rondo from killing you which might mean sending him to the bench when Hill returns.

I do have hope, which is why I said i'll wait until further into the season before saying irrational things.

I can't imagine anyone worth a 1st rounder considering the tax issues unless you're talking about something like turning Ajinca into Dinwiddie. It also could be a fake 1st rounder like Dallas traded to Philly so Philly could pretend they traded Noel for a 1st and not 2 2nds.
