Demps said in the presser that Carr might not make the roster this year but possibly could next year.
They took a long time to cut Cooke free. Demps used to be a fringe NBA player himself and has always tried to do right by these kinds of players and cut them loose to give them a chance elsewhere when it's clear they won't fit or have a better opportunity. I wouldn't be surprised if this is just a keep your options open move and Cooke might get another 2 way contract if they don't find someone better to put on a 2 way.
Another factor that could be at play here, the Pels originally were expecting to field a GLeague team starting this year, then the Pensacola deal fell apart.

Hearing that the Grizzlies -- who will be looking for wing upgrades with their mid-level exception -- have Avery Bradley high among their free-agent targets

Willing to bet Carr will be a two-way contract
Yep. Assuming he fits well during SL, I think he will get a two-way with an agreement to have him up for the full 45 days so he makes ~$275k this year.

Avery Bradley is a MLE player?
Posted on 6/27/18 at 4:35 pm to TeddyPadillac
On the Dunc'd on Mock off-season, all Avery Bradley was able to fetch was a 1 yr, $6M offer.
There's not much money out there.

The cash just isn't there this year and with so many teams so close to the tax most playoff teams won't even have the full MLE available. Zach Lowe and Kevin Arnovitz were talking about Utah likely having access to the full MLE rather than the taxpayer MLE would set them apart as one of the few good playoff teams with that much to spend.

funny I was just listening to Lowe and Arnovitz too. they said a lot of what we've been discussing about FA in general. money is all dried up and that good players will get far below their market value. definitely a buyer's market. they also talked about how so many teams are on the hot seat.
the more I think about it, I'm really temped to dump my $17 mil in Solo & Ajinca to ATL for almost whatever they want so I have more cap space. I feel like we are going to see really solid role players getting deals that are less than the MLE.

Pretty unanimous that we let Miller's contract partially guarantee tomorrow right?

Yea, I don’t think the 300k is going to be a big deal.

The Mavericks are actively exploring trade scenarios with the Clippers and former flame DeAndre Jordan in hopes of trading for Jordan this week, league sources tell @NYTSports.

Rumors are swirling that Rajon Rondo is seeking a two-year deal worth $16 million.
That would require the New Orleans Pelicans to spend almost the entirety of the full Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level exception on him.

Good luck with that one...Rajon.

Well we can't afford that. So. Bye.

It only takes one but Indy is the only team I’ve seen that can pay him and there’d possibly be mutual interest. But they still have Darren Collison and I haven’t seen any rumors of interest, just our own speculation at who might go after him.

Yeah, I don't see him getting that, but if he can, thanks for the run last year. That's double what I thought he'd get this year.

I could see a team like Phoenix bringing Rondo in to lead Booker, Josh Jackson, & Ayton. From the Zach Lowe podcast it seems like the Suns are looking to bring in vets this offseason

rondo at 8MM would be catastrophic
