[] "At this point in my career, I just want to win," West told WTHR.com in an exclusive interview Wednesday night. "I'm just not sure the Pacers are in title contention right now. I'm going into my 13th season. I'll be 35 soon. When I got to Indiana, there was hope of getting there and we played at a really high level for a couple of years. But I just don't know if the team is in the position to win right now and I didn't know if I'd have that opportunity to win a title if I'd stayed with the Pacers."[/]
[] "I just watched those finals, and I thought, 'Man, I've got to give myself a chance.' That's the reason I made this decision.‘' West said he's heard from a handful of teams interested in his services, but wouldn't specify which ones. He's probably looking at less annual money, albeit a longer-term deal, to play for a contender, but if it was all about money, he would have gone to Boston several years ago rather than choosing to join the Pacers. "Absolutely, it was not a financial decision, and that's what so perplexing to people," West said. "I just want an opportunity to win it all. We tried it in Indiana a couple of years; I was really, really disappointed when Paul got hurt, but I just felt like the window was slammed shut. I had some opportunities when I could have been traded last year, but I said no, I wasn't going to abandon the guys like that. I'm not built that way. I stuck it out."[/]

Kings free agent center Ryan Hollins garnering interest from the Kings and Pelicans, a source said.
Also saw someone saying we had interest in Justin Hamilton. Does this mean they are giving up on Withey or expect him to get more than the minimum?

My favorite Hornet. Dude always seemed so genuine, gave so much to the community (both he and his wife) and was never one to be vocal about anything. He was like what Colston is for the Saints.

didn't the pels acquire justin hamilton last year in the cole trade?
Posted on 7/6/15 at 5:06 pm to quail man
Yes, and we cut him after about 3 weeks and he ended up in Minnesota.

I find it a bit weird we are pursuing all of these Centers in a league where Centers are allegedly being devalued. I really, really assumed we would be looking more at PFs that could play both in a pinch, or 3/4 swings.

The Kings like Pelicans' forward Ryan Anderson.
Has anyone seen this anywhere else? This isn't a news breaker so I'm assuming they're copying from someone else, but I don't recall Ryno being tied to the Kings outside of our own trade proposals here. If this is new and another team is interested in Ryno does that mean Ryno's being shopped?

i think people are just making shite up now to create news since FA is pretty much over. or the guy reads this board. ryno isn't going anywhere. he's just got a tradable contract so people will float his name around.

They've only played on the same professional team for 1 season (maybe 1+, but I don't think it's been 2).
His "breakout" year was 15 ppg, I don't think he'll need the ball more than Ryno. He's a 4, but has some defensive versatility.

Barbosa re-signs with Warriors. I think it's imperative we re-sign Cole now.
Posted on 7/6/15 at 6:41 pm to BallHawk
shite. I wanted to get Barbosa

Looks like we were in on Mo Williams
Dell trying to get that guard at least

Williams had considered deals with San Antonio, Dallas and New Orleans before committing to a reunion with the Cavaliers and LeBron James.
Wonder if that's bad news RE: Cole.

I wonder if Dell wanted Mo to play the 3-guard

For the cap experts, would using the rest of the MLE on Mo but letting Cole walk still hard cap us?
Posted on 7/6/15 at 8:58 pm to THRILLHO
Yes. Hard capping is about using "normal" exceptions and then crossing the tax line. So we can't use any more of the MLE and break the tax apron.

In other words, when a team is below the apron and uses its Bi-Annual exception, receives a player who is signed-and-traded, or uses its Mid-Level exception to sign a player to a contract larger than the Taxpayer Mid-Level exception allows, the team becomes hard-capped at the apron for the remainder of that season. This eliminates any potential loophole where a team could first use one of these exceptions and subsequently add salary to go above the apron, since adding salary first and then using the exception would be illegal.

Interesting. It had perplexed me that we weren't in on any bench G's.
So we basically can't get anything but minimums from here on out because of the hard cap, right?
