It’s gonna happen to them again if they don’t fix this shite. Shai will be max, so will Giddey and then Jaylin and Chet will probably too so they will have to trade one by 2025. So the new CBA which is aimed to stop big money teams will force teams like us and OKC to go into luxury tax to have a 2-3 year contender window that will inevitably be a conference finals appearance at best. Like I said before it’s gonna come down to who is lucky, not who was smart and made good calculated moves.
Yeah they're fricked in the future which is why i could see them push the chips in sooner while most of these guys are still on rookie deals

OKC has made perfect long term moves for like 3 years straight just to get fricked by hitting on the guys they drafted being too good too soon so they are forced to pay them but will not be good enough to win so they go all in sacrificing everything they will have been building for 5-6 years for 1-2 of a luxury tax team then have to start the 5-6 process over again. We need to make our move after next year at the latest. Trade all our bad contracts and future assets for high level player and hope that wins us a title. This cba sounded awesome until I really started thinking about it. Now it’s horseshite

There are positive aspects to the new CBA. Rookie extensions can be 5 years even if they arent the max so we could sign herb and trey to 5 year deal when before we could only sign them to 4 year deals. There's also 2nd round exceptions, you get a 3rd 2-way guy, you can use the MLE as a trade exception if you want. There's always a learning curve when a new CBA hits, then teams learn how to operate in the new climate

I don't know why some folks bring everything that dude says to Pels Talk.

Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucevic is finalizing a three-year, $60M contract extension, his agents Bill Duffy and Rade Fillipovich tell ESPN.
Decent contract.

My best friend is a die hard Bulls fan and having a meltdown on that extension, and I can't say I blame him. Woof.
It's less so the money or value, but more so the Bulls just running it back and not pivoting.

Yeah the money is not bad, the direction is bad

How much can they pivot without totally blowing it up again and shipping off Lavine for peanuts?
Their ceiling is pretty low as of now but they can’t blow it up without just completely utterly giving assets away.

The issue is, if the Bulls front office went full tank mode, they probably lose their job bc it admits that they fricked up. If they continue to sell the illusion to ownership that they were a great team when Lonzo was healthy and all they are is a point guard away (technically they were 14-9 w Pat Bev last year and were 3 mins away from beating the Heat in the play in game), they can try to hold onto the rope and keep their jobs a bit longer. Not saying it’s the right path, but it explains their reasoning to run it back.

Contract isn't bad. Their best option is to extend him and try to trade him at some point.

Decent contract.

Pelicans extend the deadline for Temple's option from tomorrow to July 7th.

There may not be a big move to be made, but the Pels can't do nothing. They either need to make an additive move (swapping players Willie won't play for players Willie will play), or they need to make a move to clear tax space to pay Herb.

Jordan Clarkson exercised his PO to stay with the Jazz.
I think there are some people out there that thought he might try to get a long term deal elsewhere

They definitely can’t just run it back and bank on Zion’s health. They tried that last offseason and look where it got them. Depending on who you believe Griff’s running it back possibly landed him on the hot seat. Moves have to be made.
I’ll even go one step further, they may need to swap guys Willie will play but shouldn’t.

@BleacherReport
Kyrie intends to meet with the Suns in free agency, per B/R’s @ChrisBHaynes
A team of 4 players and 8 minimum salary players...that will not win a title, no way. I'm not buying into that.

suns would be hard capped and lose their exceptions

Couldn’t be a S&T, would have to be Kyrie on a minimum deal, that’s all they have to offer.
IMO this is just Durant doing Kyrie a solid to put some fear in Dallas that he may actually leave

Another item to keep in mind for New Orleans, the Pelicans are looking into trades for Kira Lewis Jr., sources said, that could provide the point guard with options for greater playing time elsewhere.
