NBA sources believes the Dallas Mavericks are a ‘likely’ landing spot for Deandre Ayton, per @EricPincus
“The Suns need depth. I can see them getting Tim Hardaway Jr., JaVale [McGee] back, Josh Green and No. 10,”

Its funny because Dallas also needs depth.

Really feels like an underwhelming return for Ayton. I know he's a distressed asset right now but I just feel like Phoenix should be able to do better.

He’s a center making max money that most people don’t think is a max center. A lot of people probably think that’s too much value for him including a top 10 pick.

Josh Green can play. He needs a spot where he gets touches.

This could lead to some interesting dominoes:
-Does this make a Kyrie return more likely?
-Do they cut bait with Dwight Powell, adding another veteran big to the market which is good for us.
-Will they look to dump some contracts because Reggie Bullock would be a shooter who I’d be interested in (though at 10m it makes it tight) and we’ve talked about Maxi Kleber being a good Nance proxy (in both on the floor play and injury history). I could see Naji Marshall being very attractive to them

That's actually not a bad deal for the suns.

Honestly I feel like Kyrie is an interesting angle. I suck at the CBA but could they sign and trade Kyrie for Ayton? Mavs would be a better team if they could use #10 on another vet and pair Ayton with Luka while keeping some depth. Isbiah seems primed to make another rookie owner mistake after they flamed out in the 2nd. Could he try going big with pairing Kyrie with Durant and Booker.

If your top star was Durant, would YOU do a sign and trade for Kyrie right about now?

Me, absolutely not, but I'm not a billionaire who just bought an NBA team. Do we know that Kyrie and Durant are not friends anymore? Hell, everyone know Kyrie was a flake before Durant joined him and Durant did it anyway. I personally think its a terrible basketball move. Just like Dallas trading for him was. But there is always someone who thinks they are smarter or better able to make things work and will give him a try because he is so damned talented. I dont know if that is the suns, but someone will for sure. and If I'm dallas I do it in a heartbeat.

Ironically I thought about this the other day. That DeAndre Ayton to the Mavericks would be a good spot for him.

Ayton is an underwhelming player. He’s consistently inconsistent and the effort is terrible. He got outplayed by jock landale. Centers are like the running back of the nba. If you don’t have a star (Jokic, Embiid, etc) you should t be paying one a max contract. I would rather JV on his contract than ayton on his. Yeah ayton is better but JV can give you 80% of ayton at 40% of the cost

All I know is every time we play the suns, Ayton kicks our arse. He must play his best ball against slow bigs

KAT on the trading block?

Here's the full(er) context:
"Other competing executives think Karl-Anthony Towns will be long gone ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
Some even believe Minnesota would jump at an opportunity in the next few weeks"

Minny has to do something to turn things around.
They fricked their future with the Gobert trade under the old CBA and the damage under the new CBA would be worse.

If they move KAT, they gonna keep Reid.

KAT for Dame kinda makes sense

Does it though? If that team is going to turn into anything, they need to know for sure that Ant is that guy. The balk and offense needs to run through him. The days of playing 2nd fiddle needs to end and that wouldn't be the case if Dame arrives

ESPN Sources: In the first major domino of free agency, Toronto Raptors All-Star guard Fred VanVleet has declined his $22.8 million player option and will become an unrestricted free agent in July.
Not directly trade chatter, but it does affect Toronto who is one of the bigger X factors in the trade market depending on if they become sellers or not.
