Have to think he’s going to Philly, no?

That would be my assumption, which sucks for us. Because that eliminates one BI suitor.

I think the best move is to go now after a Markannen/Kessler trade for B.I. Can have Kessler start games with Markannen at the 3. Bring Trey off the bench again but your finishing lineup
Murray
Herb
Trey
Zion
Markannen
Bench rotation:
Trey
CJ??
Kessler
Jose
Hawk/Antonio Reeves
FA sign Center/PF-
Missi
Sign a free agent bargain bin Center who is defensive minded and able to adequately hold his own against the Centers of the Southwest Division to rotate in the mix of Kessler and Missi.
That's a strong team on paper and versatile to compete with any type of team. That's the way to go now.

Not necessarily. He could opt out and resign a non max deal with clippers. Wonder if Balmer throws him some money under the table to make it work?

Wouldn't mind Andre Drummond signing or work a trade for Robert Williams from Portland to be a rotational big to hold his own, respectively, against the Centers of our division and the league.

Yeah but it also opens one up.
Clippers don't have much to send back. Would have to find a third team

No. Jarrett Allen was a 52nd percentile pick and roll scorer in 22-23. That’s poor for someone of his stature. I don’t make things up like other posters do on here. I now see he upped his number last year. I still think he’s an overrated target in an Ingram trade.
LINK
“A solid double-double threat every time he steps on the floor, Cleveland Cavaliers big man Jarrett Allen is an adept rebounder and finisher around the basket, hitting 64.4 percent of his field goals last season. However, considering his physical gifts – elite length and athleticism – Allen should probably be averaging more than 1.2 blocks per game. What’s more, he wasn’t all that effective at the one play he runs more than any other as a finisher out of the pick-and-roll. In 2022-23, Allen produced 1.15 PPP as a pick-and-roll finisher, placing him in the NBA’s 55th percentile at a lower rate than the likes of Willy Hernangomez, who won’t even be in the NBA next season. Allen will need to improve his finishing out of the pick-and-roll and his toughness on the glass for the Cavaliers to make a deeper playoff push than they did in 2022-23.”

Bring Clippers into a three way trade with Utah and every team can get what they want out the deal. We get Kessler/Markannen, Utah gets picks and swaps from us, Clippers get B.I. to replace George

Theres no more waiting around. Griffin should be pivoting towards secondary options as we speak. We now know George will be a Clipper, Sixer, or Magic(unlikely) by tomorrow evening.

Agreed but not both of them. Ainge isn't going to do that, especially in the same trade package. He's all about maximizing.
In this scenario its a question of whether we want to overpay for Lauri (possibly include assets) or get underpayed for BI (Kessler + not what we think).

Griffin knows he gotta trade B.I. to get a starting Center and fill out the roster from a bench perspective. I now believe more now than obviously before, that B.I. is gone this week.

We mortgage all the draft cache we got and give it to Utah for Markannen AND. Kessler. Utah still has Sexton to potentially trade for whatever else Danny wants.

I see all the talk about Lauri, unless he takes a less than max deal he would be a one year rental unless everyone is willing to lose one of Herb or Trey, both CJ and BI, along with all the picks.
We simply cannot have Murray at 30 million, Zion at 40 million, CJ at 30 million, and Herb and Trey taking up 45 million or so and add Lauri who’s going to want 50 million. We would be a second apron team before signing the 10th man.
Cool to talk about, but once I did the math I realized it’s simply not feasible to do unless you basically want to trade BI, CJ, Trey and 5 picks for him.

CJ is gone eventually. maybe at the deadline or you go for the title with CJ this upcoming year and trade in a year for cap purposes but the new core would be Zion, Murray, Trey, Markannen, Herb. With Kessler and Hawk as priorities thereafter. That's your 7man core. Fill out the rest of the squad with FA signings and hope to draft and develop who you can.

So dump Murray also?
So you want to basically give up Nance, Dyson, BI, CJ and 7 picks for Lauri?
Ya’ll are insane man.

BI could be a nice target to replace Klay for the Warriors if they can't get PG in a S/T
Posted on 6/29/24 at 4:54 pm to Soggymoss
Damn, my bad, forgot about Murray. I know B.I. and CJ gotta go. Both will be gone

CJ doesn’t have to go anywhere, he’s a 30 million dollar expiring next season who will re-sign for even less and will be pretty much guaranteed to win at least 1 6th man of the year award in the next 3 seasons.
There’s no universe where Lauri is worth Ingram, CJ, one of Herb/Trey/Murray and 4-5 picks.
Prime Lebron and Jordan would net that or less than that in a trade.

Trying to hold on to Herb at all costs. B.I. for Markannen/Kessler is the matching of money along with picks. Now if we gotta expand the trade to move CJ to find a suitor and get Danny some young talent to justify the trade, so be it.
We know CJ will be expiring and that is enticing to teams looking to splash next summer.
