Klay supposedly believes his best playing days are still in front of him. There’s bad blood brewing between him and the Warriors organization.
I can see him maybe going to the Lakers for the mid-level but I think Jonas might be the play for them and I think Dallas would be a better fit for Klay.

From what I read the Warriors wanted to do a S&T. The Clippers wanted them to pay X amount. The Warriors wouldn't do it. The Clippers are not going to willingly trade PG to a rival for pennies when they know his other realistic option is in the East.

I do not believe he can be S&T now that he opted out. He is a free agent.
GSW does not have the cap space.

Hey if you got a better scenario that you wanna present and is realistically possible, by all means, let's hear it. I'm just throwing out something that nets us a Center and a "star" that can be part of a new Big 3 on the same timeline.
We have enough star power, we don’t need anymore. We can easily just get a good center and backup center to fill out the roster and go into the season as is.
If we’re talking about a trade then I would easily do:
Hawks: Paul Reed
6ers: Ingram
Pels: Capela, McCain 2 1sts
Or, same as above just swap Capela for Robinson and have Reed coming to Pels, Knicks get a TPE to sign Hartenstein, or same as above but Reed and the 2 picks to Cavs with Allen to Pels
I don’t see PG going to Philly, this opt out is all posturing by his agents to get Clips to panic and throw him a max

PG probably wanted GSW #1 and Philly #2.
Clippers want Philly #1 and GSW #2.
GSW did not want to pay the Clippers price tag for the Clippers to help out a rival.
PG given green light to Philly.

Soon as the George foot drops down the losing team will pivot to Brandon. It's just a matter of lining up his anticipated 3/4 team trade now for he's targeting to find a Center and rotational bench players and/or "star" replacement that fits the timeline.

Hey I like your scenario as well. I don't see Philly including McCain and I'm not enamored with Reed or an aged Capela being relied upon to defend the Centers of our division but I could see it happening
More enamored with your Knicks scenario that Nets us Robinson as our Center. I think that could work out in our favor if we could get some relatively good health years from key players.

Philly would have to include McCain, it would basically be Paul Reed and 3 1sts for Ingram which is more than fair. And in both scenarios Reed would be the small ball 5 replacing Larry in the Larry role, he wouldn’t be a starting center.

Teams and their “capologist” have had time to read through the new CBA, and it’s clear just giving a player the highest amount that’s technically eligible to them is the old way of doing business and players and their agents will have to adjust.

That has a very low history of working out well.
Players and their agents always want the max and will get insulted if they don’t get it.

Paul George is NOT worth the max at this stage of his career. When he said he realized that he's not a #1 option on championship team, he set his own bar. Period.

They won’t have a choice if no one will pay it to them. Unless they want to go to detroit.

I could see George going to Philly for the Max. I could see Clippers going another route if they can quickly find George's replacement, which for this cycle is none better than B.I. Griff found the B.I. taker (Philly or L.A), now it's about three way with who he has in mind to be our starting Center along with 1 or 2 bench/rotational pieces. I just think Utah fits the bill in so many ways that we are looking to be. Markannen AND Kessler in a deal to N.O. would be epic.

The new CBA will require teams to likely only pay 1 maybe 2 players on a team-- max money, to realistically be able to put together a championship team. And I'm good with that. Too many players were getting max contracts who weren't max level players bc of the old CBA inner workings. Now, it's such that there is a penalty in some form for going the" just dole out max contracts to your stars to win a chip" route. Won't work anymore.

There will always be a team with cap space willing to throw a max at non max players. We see it every year
Posted on 6/29/24 at 6:02 pm to Ijuschill1
Griff knows the B.I. dillema is the make or break variable to either realistically having a good chance at winning a chip or eventually losing his job.
He has to get that decision and the results thereof, right. Period. Re-signing B.I. now that you somewhat consolidated assets into Murray makes keeping B.I. untenable. C.J. won't command what we need even though he will soon be an expiring contract and still a quality player.

I think Griff will lowball B.I. so much that B.I. demands a trade and Griff be able to say we "tried and wanted to keep him" but had every intention, especially after the Murray trade, of sending B.I. packing.

Sounds like you’re basing your opinion off the old rules.
Personally, I’m anxious to see what terms BI is going to accept(with the Pelicans or another team). I think he remains a valued member of the franchise and will be paid accordingly but at the end of it all we know this is Zion’s team moving forward… which has been a grey area in past seasons
ETA: I heard ppl throw out numbers like 5/190. I don’t know if that gets it done but $38 mil annually seems attainable for both parties
