If it is Ayton, we have some serious cap moves to do down the road between CJ’s contract and Trey’s extension.

That one is complete speculation based on Langdon's ties to the Pels, but didn't it come out that Langdon is not an Ingram fan and wanted to trade him last year?

This was a new report. Like someone said above they have a bunch of guys but no real scoring outside of Cade.

BI would actually make sense for that team and would fit them, I think Trajan may have seen that BI didn’t fit with Zion before Griff did

Pretty sure BI for Beef Stew and Ivey works after the Paul Reed pickup. Not sure if they’d want to give up on Ivey already, or if we’d want Beef Stew as our starter (probably not due to size/injury concerns.

POR: BI

Pels: Ayton + 29' 1st via MIL + 30' swap via MIL + 31' 1st via POR

+ 29' swap via POR (Wishful thinking)

And then you can send a package for Kessler that's more enticing. Whether its (2) of our picks + (1) swap or one of the above picks + our pick.

Either way we would have Ayton/ Kessler and still come out with atleast (1) pick of higher value and/ or (1) swap for BI

You can't say stuff like this and then be upset our only backup plan is a #21 project.

Our future picks hopefully will be #28/ #30 range.

So we have 0 trust in the center we picked at #21 but knowingly wont give up (2) picks that will be worse value than our current pick?

Y'all maths don't be mathing

But i bet if we traded him for pick #31/ #32 (2 2nds) fans would be ecstatic about the value...
What? 28-30? Are you that optimistic about the roster? If Kessler improved us that much, may would give up 3-4 1sts. However, that is not the case. At this point in his career, he is a one-trick pony. He is a tremendous shot blocker. He is a good rebounder and decent defender. He is a deer lost in the headlights on the offensive end. He cannot set screens or shoot FTs or 3s. He is still a bit of a project/marginal starter. Utah did not play him much the latter half of the season and now he is playing in the SL. No way would I give up multiple 1sts for him.

Would be a huge challenge after this season to avoid the repeater tax next season. I do not see the Pels investing $34 million a year in a center.

From Brett Siegels most recent article
quote:

The Jazz are another interesting scenario to discuss since they have their whole ordeal with Markkanen to sort through. Should Utah decide to keep Markkanen, as indications right now suggest, the Jazz are going to be on a mission to surround him with win-now talents. Ingram is certainly this type of player, as the Jazz would know what kind of scorer they would be adding on the wing, which has been a weak point for them over the years. The only problem with trading for Ingram is the Jazz would have two players up for massive extensions.

Two scenarios with Utah I would like:

BI for Kessler and Collins, use the cap savings to sign Tyus Jones to MLE, sign reeves to main roster

Or

BI for Kessler and Sexton, use the MLE to sign GTJ, BAE to sign Precious Achiuwa, sign Reeves to two way

Murray/Tyus/Jose
Herb/CJ/Ryan
Trey/Hawk/Reeves
Zion/Collins/JRE
Kessler/Theis/Missi

Or

Murray/Sexton/Jose
Herb/CJ/Hawk
Trey/GTJ/Ryan
Zion/Precious/JRE
Kessler/Theis/Missi

Either one would also likely be a roster we can keep together for more than a year

Not a fan of Collins' player option next season. Could put us in a salary cap jam.

It really wouldn’t. If we kept him and Trey along with everyone we have on roster next season we would have about 13-14 million under the first apron to fill out 5 roster spots. This is assuming Trey at a 31 million cap hit next season, so that number could be way more depending on what Trey’s extension looks like.

Also having that salary combined with CJ you have 56 million in expiring contracts which allows you to go superstar hunting say if someone unexpectedly comes available like Booker

For sure they have Stewart, Duran, Tobias and now Reed at the 4 and 5. Holland I’m guessing more as a 3 with Thompson. Makes sense and doesn’t really put them so flush they need to move someone unfortunately

It doesn't make any sense. Cunningham is a 3. Thompson is a 2/3. Holland is a 3. That's 3 out of the last 4 years drafting lottery wings. But now they are going to offer a huge deal for Ingram? Why?

This happens in every thread where brmark pretends that it's the 90s, and positions are well-defined and aligned with traditional roles

Ivey is the PG or small guard. Then there are the two wings, Cunningham and Thompson. They just added Hardaway JR and drafted Holland. Who's job is Ingram taking? Are you sitting Cunningham or Thompson?

Ivey is probably getting sat at this point because he isn’t producing and they need veteran help.

I really wonder if we wouldn't just start small. No center. Murray CJ Herb Zion BI

I like this idea too, but would start

Murray
CJ
Herb
Zion
Trey

With BI the first off the bench and Trey in the starting lineup.

90s? What teams are actually structured the way you describe? Can you name 5 that have eschewed all conventional roles/positions?

Should be pretty simple, since it's how things are done now, right?

My god. Imagine being a fan of a team that extended Ingram and Markkanen to long term high dollar contracts.

Depends on how you view Jose. In both those scenarios don’t think he’s here much longer.

Nah, you have had it explained to you plenty of times, and yet you persist in thinking that each player in the NBA has a specific position that he plays. You aren't interested in learning anything, so no one should waste their time trying to explain to you how the modern NBA is about skills and responsibilities much more than positions.
