I don’t think he’s getting traded.
It's much more likely since the Murray trade. And also, since the Murray trade, there is much less reason to rush it.

No offense to CJ, but he is a liability at the end of the game more times than not.

Correct me if I'm wrong but our team was so bad in the clutch last year that's like saying cj was the smartest idiot in the room.

CJ seemed to run out of gas toward the end of the season and in the playoffs.
That is not a knock on CJ, I can see him doing well next to Murry.

He was dealing with a collapse lung also I think

That was pretty early in the season though right?

I agree. CJ being the 3rd-5th option is the ideal spot for him.

I like to think we’re close to getting Lauri and/or Kessler with so little action of late

I can’t imagine us getting Lauri. I guess I could see Kessler.

It has to be (1) of Allen/ Kessler/ Lauri.
Cavs don't really want to trade Allen and Ainge is Ainge. Probably trying to get what's needed through a BI trade to make it happen.
If it was just WCJ then it would have happened IMO.

DJ was one of the best clutch scorers last season, hopefully we put the ball in his hands at the end of games.

And that helped us how?
I've said it several times already, but CJ's stats as the 3rd option are much better than when he's the 1/2 option.
CJ took a grand total of 23 shots in the clutch last year and made 11 of them. 4-10 from 3 and 4-8 from the line.
Herb took 15 and was 2-5 from 3 and 11 for 13 from the line. Herb also had 10 assists to CJ's 7.
Trey was 3-9 from 3, no 2's attempted, and 6 for 6 from the line.
When you look at the role players in the clutch, he was actually wasn't all that different, or great.
Zion and BI took 77 shots in the clutch and their FG% was only slightly lower than CJ's, even though they had all the responsibility to create in the clutch. That is going to stay the same with Zion and Murray.
So CJ wasn't really all that great in the clutch compared to other role players, and we all know his defense is straight arse.
Don't compare CJ, or Trey and Herb, to BI and Zion. Their roles are drastically different.
Now CJ was really good in the 4th quarter as a whole.
He actually took a good bit more shots than BI did in the 4th this past year 231 to 159. BI took a lot more than everyone else in the 3rd quarter, as he generally plays the entire 1st and 3rd quarters.
CJ was 46% from 3 in the 4th on 118 attempts
Trey was also 46% from 3 in the 4th on 99 attempts.
Hawkins, yes Jordan Hawkins, attempted 90 3's in the 4th quarter this year at 35%, and was 24-29 from the line
You can make a very easy argument that Trey can easily replace CJ's production, and is a better defender.
Murray is going to shoulder the burden BI had in the clutch, and hopefully he's a good bit better.
But more importantly is that Zion get better in the clutch, ESPECIALLY FROM THE FT LINE. He was 69% from the line in the 4th, and was 50% in the clutch. We can't get better in the clutch unless he gets better in the clutch above all else.

You could also argue that adding Murray by default should make CJ better "in the clutch" because he can just shoot instead of dribbling the clock out or trying to develop a thought.

Absolutely, making CJ an off-ball player should make him better in general, and especially in clutch situations.

Simply look at his uncontested 3 FG%.
Additionally, I’d pair him with Jose and have him play the 2 off the bench, then stagger with the 1s.

Adding Murray allows us to get the best out of CJ in his natural position.
Adding Murray also lets us maximize our offense by having a PG and his defense allows for Herb to come of the bench.
This way we can run it up on offense, forcing the the opposing team to keep starters out, allowing fresh Herb to come off the bench and absolutely terrorize other teams for the rest of the game.

This isn't going to happen.
