Again, I think CJ can be very important for this team but Trey is the future and probably should start. I just don’t understand why people think CJ won’t accept a bench role?
I don't understand this logic. If McCollum should be OK coming off the bench, why wouldn't Murphy or Jones? If it doesn't matter that much and he'll still get top 5 minutes, then all should be fine with it. So why does it matter?
The simple truth is that it does matter to players. Good players don't want to be bench players or role players. We can talk about sacrificing for the betterment of the team. But that's not really a thing that players want to do.

CJ just talked about this too. Dude ain't coming off the bench

If we want to truly build around 275lb Zion, then we don’t need a center.
We need another Trey, and PG is a better Trey.

Dream scenario is trading BI for Sengun or doing a three way trade if Houston doesn’t want BI.
BI to LAC, PG to Htown and we get Sengun.

Sorry you said it made it easier. Signing an undrafted guy to your summer league squad has no effect on trading a rotation player on your team
All I said was that maybe just maybe the team really liked the PF we signed (makes sense if we signed him) and that made it easier being comfortable with letting go of Nance and Dyson, while signing JRE (2 way player and current competition to current 2 way player).
Yes the 2 way player has no chance of a roster spot battling a former 2 way player, an empty 3rd string spot, and 2 empty center spots...
I even said its food for thought and that I could be reading into it. Clearly your "thoughts" are just argue, argue , argue...

Ok say CJ aint ok with this. And its clear our team is better with Trey starting with Herb, are you guys ok just starting CJ technically for optics? While Trey who’s due for a big contract and may make the starters better stays on the bench?

Dyson needs to go somewhere he can either figure it out or bust. Not sure the Hawks are the right spot either for him.
Love this trade for yall

Im not arguing. You asked a question? I said No. That was my food for thought. I don’t think signing guys to your summer league squad have ANY effect on free agents or making trades.

Bro landed Murray giving up scrubs and crap picks, he COOKED

I got news for all of you, it’s a 100% certain that BI is going to the Magic or Sixers so we can save some money and not be a tax team, b/c after this trade we sit at $159M with just 10 players, and we still need a starting center, a backup center, and a backup PF, and we only have $13M to acquire that.

It’s also Willie decision and I feel like he rather have CJ start over Trey.

It all depends on who is still here. I believe that our current backcourt is set with Murray and McCollum. If Ingram stays, he's the SF. If he leaves, Jones is the SF. The only way Murphy starts (barring injury) are if two people leave, Ingram or McCollum and Jones.
If the team goes to McCollum and tells him that they want him to come off the bench (in a diminished role), he would do it. But he would ask for a trade.

That’s another reason why I like the BI to sixers, pick(s) to Utah, and Kessler and Reed (and picks(s)) to the Pels. It cuts about 26 mil in salary and fills 2 of those 3 holes. We could then bring back Naji or find another backup PF.

Someone will find a way to bash what is unequivocally the best trade the pels have made ever
I guess the results will dictate the how true that statement is, but no one thought Murray was available for anything less than Ingram
We won this trade by a fricking mile

So the Pels now have two young all-defensive caliber players on the perimeter on reasonable salaries for a long time. That is some excellent work.
I hope we can extend Trey and bring back Naji also.

I honestly think this team with Murray is better off keeping Ingram and trading CJ.
CJ is old. Has had health issues. And at the ceiling if he’s healthy all year the Pelicans are basically the Blazers from a half decade ago with Dame and CJ that couldn’t go anywhere in the Playoffs?
I’d rather trade CJ. But it is interesting the logjam we’ve got at everyone PF and under. Shame to give up Daniels. But there’s only so many people that can play between Murray, Hawkins, CJ, Ingram, Herb, Zion, Trey, etc.
Just put Zion and Trey at C and play them all

Been watching Murray highlights. He’s a really good fit.
Trade BI, and get a good center plus picks.
Move CJ into a super 6th man role, he’ll still get 25-30 minutes per game.
Try and make a big move using CJ’s contract at the deadline

That is very obvious, but it’s obvious we will move BI, not CJ, even though moving CJ for Isaac and cap space would be the best move we could make right now.
Murray/Herb/BI/Trey/Zion is a really good lineup.

I would invest in Trey and bring back Naji as a glue guy off the bench.
I would move on from BI almost specifically because of his contract situation and Trey. I would let CJ stay around as a role player/3 pt shooter/vet leader; however a closing lineup with Murray, Jones, Zion, and Murphy, and Naji(or stud center) is appealing defensively.
