Someone just put this franchise out of its misery. I’ll still take him over Ham though.

Of course the people complaining would have complained about any hire because they complain about everything.

I’ll start by saying I don’t like this hire, but thank goodness it isn’t Ham.
Paolo didn’t get along with him, but Paolo was also a big reason the Magic didn’t live up to their preseason expectations. He’s treated like a true #1 guy, but he played more like the engine of a very mediocre offense. Yeah, he had a good playoff series, but his regular season wasn’t very good compared to what was expected of him.
He was a ball-stopper who, at best, created a bunch of contested jumpers or drives into a wall of defenders. He’s not good off the ball, still very inefficient as a shooter, average on defense, and he didn’t really make his teammates better.
Paolo was just as big a reason for the Magic’s struggles as Jahmal and is a big reason he’s been in trade rumors.

You liked Rondo last week. Now you are bashing him? What if he gets hired as assistant?

He's had nothing but positive things to say about the Pels and Gayle Benson the past 2 seasons.

He thinks they've done great.

Known qualities? So like every coach in history?

What makes him not good?
There's nothing about his resume that makes him a good coach.

No one thinks he's in the top 15 best coaches in the NBA, except for Chad who also thinks Gayle Benson is doing a fantastic job with the Pels.

Well that's a little silly. He's had top rated defenses. Winning record 2 of his last 3 years.

I know you love having empty conversations Justin, i mean how else can you do a 2 hour podcast about the pels without that, but I'm actually trying to look for the bad with this guy outside of paolo not liking him

Well, good thing this franchise isn't built around a lesser Paolo.

I'm not sure there is anything about his resume that makes him a bad coach either.

If Franz Wagner doesn't get hurt he's still the Magics head coach because they 100% would have beat the #1 seed.

He took over a very bad team and got them to the playoffs rather quickly. If he can do the same here, I'd be happy.

He unfortunately has a very uphill battle. Not sure any coach can polish this turd of a roster.

I'm just glad it's not Ham.

Funny enough, I think this roster has a lot of similarities to that Orlando group but with different weaknesses.
