Getting to the playoffs multiple years in a row would be a miracle for this franchise, so in some ways I get it. Getting there is good enough for now

This is the 2nd year in the a row where the entire league knew exactly a major offseason plan.

They are much much much more complimentary of Mosley and wishing him the best, than I would have expected. Magic fans seem to like him a lot more than the general league wide perception

Tell me Mosely's strengths and weaknesses like I know nothing about him.

We already did that with Willie
Didn't say it'll automatically work, but it IS the only way to get a legit good coach.

This board has had catastrophe syndrome for the last 2 plus years and cant see that we actually made a decent hire.

B- grade for me.

Very Good hire. He's a known coach. Known qualities. Has playoff experience.

The Gayle lapdog likes the hire. Color me shocked.

Gets his teams to play aggressive and defense early, he is a motivational coach that that worked early on

Won a decent amount of games and got the team to the playoffs 3 years in a row

He is a better version of Willie Green

Not an x's and o's guy, his offensive "schemes", such as they are, are considered anywhere from non-existent to bad. His motivational tactics wore thin and the locker room tuned him out in Orlando.

This is just the most Pelicans hire of all time.

Meh. Boring. More of the same.

(I'll still watch even when we're 12-23 on 1/1)

The only way the Pels can get a legit coach is to hire a first time coach, meaning taking a swing. For a team in our position, you should ALWAYS side for a first time coach over a retread hire you know is not a really awesome coach. You always have to take the risk, settling for the retread isn't the way to do it.

Couldn't agree more. Look at the Saints last three head coaches: Payton (1st time head coach); unquestionably the greatest head coach in team history; Dennis Allen (retread); unquestionably a lazy hire that didnt even remotely work out; Kellen Moore (1st time head coach); obviously still to be determined, but looks promising so far. Obviously, I hope Mosley works out, but its just an uninspiring hire for a team that needs to invigorate its fan base badly.

The same people saying "no good coach will ever come here"

You're being a little disingenuous here. What people mean is no "established" good coach is going to come here and I tend to agree. That's why you need to roll the dice with a first time coach and hope you get it right. Wallowing in mediocrity (which unfortunately is the position this hire seems likely to put us in) is simply the worst thing you can do. Its a lazy, uninspiring hire. I just hope I have to eat some crow in two years.

Probably won't do anything but when the job was open before Willie was hired everyone here hated the idea of hiring Ty Lue because he was a know nothing retread so nobody actually knows anything for sure and we'll see what happens.
