ven though we have the worst record in the West, we're still only 3.5 games out of the play-in, and we've done much better after starting 1-12.

If we can make a trade to improve somewhat, then it's not at all unreasonable to think that we could be right around the line for the play-in when and if Zion returns with about 25 games left in the season.

That would give the team some time to figure out how to play together with Zion in time to possibly win in the play-in and make the actual playoffs.

I'm not at all saying that it's likely. It's just not crazy to think that.

Philosophy needs to revolve around assumption Zion will not play this season. It's time to dump for a top-five pick. Trading away picks would be insane.

The league is full of examples of teams that ended up worse off by a GM with one foot out the door.

He’s not getting fired this year. That’s wishful thinking.

So no, I don’t see a big move made for the sole purpose of “saving his job.” How about making a move that sets you up long term with a really good player to add to your core? That’s what I’m talking about letting the hate for the dude seeping into every comment that gets made.

I am so sick of locked room issues being treated like an actual thing to worry about. Sixers did fine with his poison in the locker room.

I’m more concerned about his poison being on the court. Passing up dunks because he’s afraid to take the shot.

Dump Zion for a single pick?

If we were able to get Ben Simmons without giving up Zion/JV/BI- you have to consider it.

I think it's absolutely fine to trade picks for talent that will be here next season.

sixers also wouldn’t have invested this kind of player with multiple future assets. So yeah it should definitely be something to worry about if you’re putting a majority of your asset eggs into this basket(case)

Also helps to actually have multiple vocal quality vets on your team already to have the team come together and ignore the BS

I'd do it if Simmons is okay with being here. If he's not than you have to pass, obviously

really don’t like the thought of being buyers. I’d rather hold onto assets, let this roster play out, and let the next POBO get to make those decisions.

Disagree here, if Zion plays 30 or so games.

We’ve got a trade exception and enough capital to make a play for two impact players, potentially, with assets left over.

Guys don’t learn how to win until they’re playing to win.

Griffin isn’t going anywhere this season.

I'm on the fence, but I'd really like to only add pieces that could be more long term pieces, 3 or more years.

Adding Simmons? JFC. Is there anyone in the office who can tell Gayle a hard no on that nonsense? Do we have to rent a plane with a sign and have it circle David Drive?

Simmons is really redundant with Point Zion. He could fill the hole Zion leaves when he's out, but they are whatever the opposite of complimentary players, especially on offense.

It would require some offensive creativity, for sure.

I'd think that Zion and Simmons could run a deadly pick-and-roll together. If you swing Valanciunas out to the 3-pt line to pull away the opposing center, then opponents don't have the players on the floor with the size to defend the pick-and-roll, and both Zion and Simmons are devastating when going to the basket.

Val is not a high percentage 3pt guy. Teams would just leave Val out there and pack their center in the paint.
