This dude. His absolute hatred of this franchise is just...so so weird.

In his latest podcast with Nate Duncan, they do a discussion on "middle tier franchises" and we are one. Nate had us ranked right behind Mil. Hollinger to say the least did not agree.

He paints us as being incredibly lucky last year, and criticizes us for being "too quick" to build around Zion. Duncan said we "pushed our chips in too early" and are gonna be in cap hell too early.

He says he can't "see the vision" surrounding our team, he criticizes us for having "to pay to get rid of Eric Bledsoe", and he attacks ownership. He makes fun of us for missing out on Jacque Vaughn. HATES Valanciunas on this team.

He basically said everything good we have done, every trade we have made that worked out, is all pure luck.

Just truly weird and overly negative for a team that is currently the 2 (?) seed.

EDIT:

I got their voices confused as well as believing twitter. Everything I attributed to Hollinger was Duncan, and vice versa

Sounds like some of the "all luck" praise Griffin receives around here doesn't it?

Wouldn't stop talking about our "total frick ups" and completely downplayed the moves we made to make up for those frick ups.

That was probably the weirdest part. He took a shot at the Pels because Vaughn turned us down, like that means anything right now. Do you think the Pels are wishing they had hired Vaughn more than maybe Vaughn wishes he didn't turn this job down right about now?

He brought up pretty much every bad move Griff has ever made, gave very little credit for any good ones, and said he would have us as a franchise in the 20s.

If this was a one off thing It would be something, and criticism of past moves is valid.

However this guy constantly attacks this franchise and it was so over the top negative and off base.

I've gone after Griff for his frick ups. But if you correct them, and do so in honestly stellar fashion, you should also get credit.

Sports isn't an exact science.

Then tried to downplay the obvious response to this that we made the playoffs last season by saying, "What would we think about the CJ trade if Paul George doesn't get Covid?"

That is just a terribly bad take. How can we "push in all our chips" when we still have so many chips left on the table?

I listened to the podcast, I think you have it backwards, I think hollinger had us behind MIL and duncan had us in the 20s. Im pretty sure duncan is the one with the lisp and he was the one hating on us.

No, I don't think so.

Pretty sure I have it right, but if I don't, my bad.

Just looked up that guy and definitely looks like someone that I won't trust the opinion of concerning a conversation about athletics....

Yeah hollinger has the kind of soft voice, and Duncan has the deep voice with a lisp. Hollinger had us like 12th behind MIL and then Duncan's bitch arse came in and shat all over it

These are the "chips" the Pels have "pushed in" in the last 2 years.

- 2 2nds, Steven Adams, Eric Bledsoe, Zaire Williams for JV, Trey Murphy and a 2nd.
- Lonzo for a 2nd
- 2022 1st for Graham
- Josh Hart and a future 1st and 2nd for CJ and Nance

Pushing in chips implies a blockbuster trade, or giving away all of your assets. The Pels didn't win every trade, but it's really a bunch of teams making mid level trades swapping similar levels of value for better fitting players.

I condensed that for simplicity, you can see the full transactions here LINK

Welp, my bad.

Hollinger wasn't exactly glowing at times either but this is a massive mea culpa. I saw people talking about it on Twitter attacking Hollinger and went and listened and got their voices confused i guess, assuming the overly negative one was Hollinger
