Now might be a good time to have some talks with Sam Presti about Trey or maybe Herb.

They are so deep, they won't even miss a beat.

I figure they plug someone like Caruso or Wallace in and not miss a beat. Damn we are miles away from even being a 6-10 type team making the play-in but that’s about it.

I honestly think OKC is a rare team that makes sense for Z.

Z for Hartenstein, Topic, Sorber

Or Z for Chet

I think OKC can afford to unload a high cost center after drafting Mara and Z would provide secondary scoring punch they lose w the Jalen injury.

There might be better Z packages out there, just spitballing. Trading Trey Murphy to the Thunder would actually be a bit easier salary wise and we could get a couple picks back as well. I just struggle trading one of our few shooters off the roster.

We need draft picks and lots of them. We will never be a team that pays the tax so we will stay below the apron meaning we have to hit on young, cheap talent constantly because we won’t be handing out too many massive contracts.

True but no Dort and Wiggins so they’re a little thin on the wing

Jalen Suggs also went down with a non contact injury against the Knicks

Not really. Cason Wallace always plays his arse off against the Pels. OKC just keeps reloading young talent around SGA.

Thunder are way too smart and well run to want Zion.

I'd do Williams/Topic for Murphy/Jones. I think OKC might throw in 1-2 picks (protected). We can let Williams rest for a year. Then build around him next year. He has star level talent, and if he recovers can be a top 10ish level player..it's the kind of gamble bad teams like us should be trying..

Are you drunk? Williams is by far OKC's second best player. Even with the injury, they'd laugh us out the room.

There is no planet where OKC would do this. "Yes would you take our older, often injured, underachieving player for your younger 1st team all defense 3rd team all nba player?

Chet is paid quite a bit for what he does and they have 3 other quality centers. Was just spitballing. I've wanted to trade Zion for 5-6 years. Not my fault we still have the dunce while he has little to no value. We'd be silly to not at least make the call. Best case scenario is getting him off the team and having him destroy OKC in the same transaction. I'd also be trying to shop him to the Spurs. He's a shitty basketball player, but he's the perfect Trojan Horse.

Hes also out for the year (after missing almost all of last season). It is a pretty gnarly injury that could be a career killer, if not limiting. If they trade him (which i doubt they will) its going to be for a discount and they receiving team will be taking a big risk.

What team can give them a better return at a position of need (wing)?

They potentially also have to decide between Williams and Chet after this season. This gives them an excuse to pick Chet, get good replacements for Williams and use one of their endless supply of firsts. Probably wont happen but i doubt its a laugh out the room general idea.

Caruso sprained his ankle and Wallace will be out for a while after his shoulder surgery.

Herb probably a better "fit" for Thunder....than Trey...and Thunder have a load of 1st & 2nd round picks in the near future. Hope something can be worked out...

Yeah, especially when OKC is still looking to compete this season. They're still a contender without JW, but Herb + Trey would be obviously get them a LOT closer to another trophy relative to getting nothing out of JW.

JW's injury issues + massive contract definitely makes him a risk, but it's the kind of risk that the Pels probably need to take to be worth a shite. The Pels would need to get a good bit worse for at least this season, so I don't think that they would have the balls to do something like this.
