Does this incompetence not give one a right to move on?

What are the rules? I always said you had to support your hometown team no matter where you go.

But I haven't lived in NOLA in 20+ years. I only have one family member left there and don't really care to go back. I don't even particularly like the city anymore.

I seriously think I'm going to switch to my permanent home team, the Spurs. I've been here for 7 years and like the city way more than NOLA and the Spurs at least aren't completely incompetent.

Ownership majorly fricking up tends to be a realistic one.

Mavs fans are looking for a new team as a result.

if you want to swim in the success, you must swim in the failures till you die.

no ifs ands or butts. living in the misery is probably more fun that winning championships every year.

Yeah, I'm totally fine with Mavs fans jumping ship.

Honestly, while this decision isn't nearly as bad as the Luka trade, the cumulative effect of her shitty decisions is close.

Another positive of me switching is that my kids will grow up liking the same team as me.

San Antonio LOVES the Spurs almost as much as NOLA loves the Saints. It's pretty cool how the whole city loves the team.

I think I'm switching. frick Gayle's dumb arse.

Your team is your team. End of

People who switch teams for any reason were never fans in the first place. They were casuals… half arses who poke their head up when the team does well and claim them…and then don’t watch when they suck.

It’s your fricking team! You don’t switch even if they are the most embarrassing useless pile of shite of all time.

It’s the hand you’ve been dealt.

That's how I've always felt, but the older I get, the less connection I feel to the city and the more disgusted I feel about the ownership, etc.

I'm only pulling for the team because I was born there. I moved 20 years ago and rarely go back. I don't like New Orleans very much to be honest.

I really like my current area. So why am I pulling for the Pelicans again? Not like I'm jumping to the Lakers.

I'm probably just being emotional. Realistically, I'll just not watch anymore NBA like how I don't follow the NFL anymore.

I don't see how it's possible to just start suddenly caring for and cheering for a different team as an adult. It would just seem so artificial and disingenuous. I get that it's possible to start liking a team in a sport that you don't currently have a team that you cheer for, but switching to a different team? Seems so fake.

So… being a chiefs fan has been less fun than being a jets fan the last 7-8 years? Nahhhhh

I can't switch to a new team. But I can get more and more apathetic. Last year I watched one game (1st game of the season). This year, I'll watch less unless we get Flagg or something.

my three year old saw a picture of Michael Jordan and asked who he was, and what team he played for and then asked “were bulls fans?”

I was like frick it, sure, can’t be worse than this. at least o can live in the 90s. so I may be out.

I grew up in Houston and I’ve been pulling for the rockets ever since they grabbed my favorite draft prospect, Alperen Sengun.

I highly recommend

Why does it matter to have other people's support to switch teams.

Like who you like, and don't simply support a team because of geography. Owners don't care about they city, so why should the city care about the owner and team?

There is a difference between being a bandwagon fan of one of the Darkside teams like the Yankees, Dodgers, Lakers, Cowboys, etc, but having a team you like is fine.

I was a Lakers fan because I loved Magic as a player and we didn't have a team in Louisiana with the Jazz leaving, still loved them because of Shaq, and then stopped caring when Kobe destroyed them. I never became a true Pels fan just because they are Louisiana team.

The reality is that people should not feel obligated to an organization based purely on proximity. I get being an alumni of a university or school, or being a fan growing up, but if the team doesn't give a crap, why should the fans?

Respectfully this is where I’m at complete polar opposites and 100% disagree….and yes, I absolutely see the irony of me being in a different country.

Supporting and following a team is ALL about sense of place and pride in your city. It means more. It’s deep rooted and unwavering.

You’re from a place… that’s your team, that’s what you’re given. When they win it means more, when they lose it means more.

If you pick a team because you like X and Y player or because they are good or exciting to watch.. that’s glory hunting and completely empty… you can simply turn on and off if it’s not suiting you and gloat when things are going well.

I appreciate where there is also a difference over there with ownership and teams being franchised, so they can just up and move if they like, which is entirely shite.

I would only switch if/when they move the team.

Probably would become a spurs fan. Another small market team but is extremely well run. Plus I love their colors.

I could never see myself switching to a big market team like Boston, NY, LA.

The small market teams just appeal to me more

Honestly, I think once you've moved cities and you don't really have much family left in your hometown anymore, you're in the clear to switch teams. If you haven't lived in Nola for over 20 years and have laid down roots in San Antonio, I wouldn't blame you for switching to the Spurs. The question would be more difficult if the city you currently lived in didn't have their own team.

I think you are on the road to recovery and better health with this move. In a way, I hope the Saints join you in San Antonio so they can thrive again as well.

I think Pop is actually dead - but even deceased, he's a better executive than what the Pels are working with.
