Is it bad that I’m getting to the point of checking out on this organization?

I’m sick of the constant “hope” just to be back where we are now every single fricking time. Shits exhausting. I want to love this team and I have a good chunk of my life, hell I took a decent ban when Chris Paul left because of how pissed I was (in my defense I was like 14 but still). This just feels like the frick up that ruins the whole thing. I get Zion and BI being injury prone isn’t the front offices fault but if we can’t make a core of those two and McCullum work enough to at least finish top 4/5 I don’t see how it ever works here. Shits frustrating as hell man.

I've kinda checked out for now.
I haven't been watching the games.

Cant really blame anyone TBH.
Fans at the end of the day don't owe a team anything.
Us diehards wrap ourselves up in rationalizations about loyalty and being "real" fans, but unless you enjoy the processes and league as a whole, there is no real reason to not dip out when a team is no longer enjoyable to watch and the hobby is no longer mentally positive.
Can't say I'm not almost to that point myself. And I've probably watched 99% of all NOLA games since the team came here. This season has been the most demoralizing ever for me.

If I have absolutely nothing to do I'll watch the games, but that hasn't really been the case lately. I'm kinda what OP said, while this season is definitely the extreme, it feels like every other season. You get hopes up for what they could be, what they should be, and they kill that every single time. It does kind of feel like this franchise is just cursed and it doesn't matter what they do, it'll never work out. Something will always go wrong.

I still watch the games when I’m home but I’m not as emotionally invested in them like I was earlier in the season.

I check scores periodically and will turn it on in the 4th quarter if it’s close, that’s how sad it’s gotten for me this season
Fandom definitely dying, not sure if it’s what the OP said or if it’s just getting older and having more interesting things going on in my life

For me you look at the number of games they play. I can stand to watch the Saints when they aren't good because it's just 17 games in a season. These NBA teams are playing nearly 4 games a week. It's draining.

I'll admit that this is the first time I've followed the team very closely but holy shite, what highs and lows this has been. From those 2 back to back Suns games back in December where you'd have thought once BI came back this team would make a deep run into the playoffs, then soon after the wheels started to fall off and they may miss all together.

I haven't been watching the games.
Even in the 10 game losing streak, all season long I am always looking forward to game day and excited to watch.
I thought we played today, and this morning when I checked the full NBA schedule and noticed we didn't, for the 1st time I had a sense of relief that we are NOT playing lol.
Still planning to watch every game for now, but not happily

Dude you have to REALLY love basketball/baseball to invest in those marathon seasons with an underperforming team. It’s pretty normal in 99% of people.

I said it in another thread but this season kinda broke me. Been a diehard fan but to watch this team lay an egg in probably the most anticipated season in franchise history was a new low. When we went on that 10 game losing streak I stopped watching games for the first time.
I've come to terms with the fact that we'll never win a title and the team will most likely move in the next 10 years

I envy the time of the 10 game losing streak. I had the thought "this is just a little rough patch, but we'll break out of it and start chugging again." Boy was I wrong. Now I actually recognize this team just isn't any good.

NBA product is flat out not very good

A fan that really cares about the team doesn’t want to watch that team get their brains beat in. It’s because we care that many of us are starting to check out.

Pels talk is group therapy now. It's all good if you're optimistic, still hopeful, downtrodden, pessimistic, bummed, etc.
Our best players are always hurt. Like fricking always. Like ever since Chris hurt his knee in 2009. Shits insane.

I think more people should check out. This is supposed to be a fun experience for people. If you aren't having fun, you should probably find another way to spend your time.
I really don't understand the people that seem to hate watch the Pels and actually post and engage more when things are bad. Seriously. WTF are you people doing with your lives that you would rather make angry posts on an anonymous message board than pretty much anything else?
And for the record, I'm not saying this about all negative posts. Fun can be had with bad teams by problem solving and playing arm chair GM. I'm talking about the handful of posters that only seem to post here to be negative. Seriously, go do something better with your time than give it to this team that has failed you so completely.

Antonio Daniels is the PEls biggest cheerleader, all positive all the time. When he's noting 4 or 5 times a lack of effort against OKC, you know it's really bad.
There are some videos on Pels Twitter of Lakers guys hustling to get offensive rebounds where our guys are standing and watching.
I don't know how you play a game for a living and aren't embarrassed by that. I generally hate comparing myself or any non NBA dude on the playground to the NBA, but it applies here...if I got outhustled at any point in a pickup game, that was easily the most embarrassing part of playing basketball. How these dudes don't seem to care and get outhustled over and over is just something I'll never be able to grasp.
But the greater point is, if they don't care enough to try their hardest, which they clearly have not, then why should I?

I maybe missed 1 or 2 games this year, but the Lakers game was a punch to the gut for me.
A few weeks ago my wife (who loves the Pels) said “why are you watching this, you know what’s going to happen.”’ She’s right, at this point, I don’t know why I watch. I’ve put a lot of love and energy in this team and it just sucks seeing a team go out and play like they did vs the Lakers.
That game was basically a playoff game and I can’t ever remember watching a team play that ugly, and I’m talking any team ever, not just the Pels. Jacking up bad three after bad three after bad three and 6 threes taken in the first half by our worst shooter and I can’t take that. Add that they straight up didn’t even bother playing defense. I’m not going to watch my team if they play that ugly basketball.
I've avoided criticizing Willie all year, but he seriously needs some criticism if that’s the adjustment he thinks this team needs to make. You can shoot a lower amount of threes and be a good basketball team. It was clear the strategy was “hey guys, shoot more threes tonight.” Not everybody deserves the green light to shoot whenever they want and just because you’re trying to shoot more doesn’t mean the ball should stop moving and give you a reason to not play defense. That was the first game I’ve actually heard Joel Myers be openly mad at what they were doing. It sounded like he wanted to slam the headset down and walk off.
Willie is getting to Uncle Al territory in looking like he has no idea when to call a timeout.
Ugh.

quote:I've said it countless times across multiple boards on TD, there is exactly a 0% chance those people are anything but miserable in life. Just think about it logically, if you are generally a pretty happy dude or even just standard not happy/not miserable, there's no way you come online angry all the time and only hate posting. That's just not logical.

You feel bad for those types because there's just no way they're anything but miserable in their actual lives too, I'd bet anything on that.
