If we get a top 3 pick, what do you do going forward?

Top 3 players seem to universally be:
Cooper Flagg, SF/PF
Ace Bailey, SG/SF
Dylan Harper, PG/SG
At this point its becoming very apparent that Trey Murphy has a big future with this team and is a SF/PF
Flagg and Ace would in theory occupy a lot of the same space as Herb, Trey, and Zion. So you have to think about a move with one of those players right?
Harper fit wise is the perfect one because he can play with all 3.
Do you trade Zion once you've secured the top 2?
Bring one of those guys off the bench if everyone is healthy and let things unfold?

Knowing griff he’ll run it back thinking the new rookie is gonna make the difference but Willie will give him 18 min a game off the bench and stunt the start of his development

trade the pick.
The only thing that the draft has done for the Hornets/Pelicans is lock a player here until they hit their PRIME, then they leave.
So until they change the culture and format of growing a franchise you will continue to see frustration and ups and downs of building a mediocre franchise.
Sad but true.

If you get 1, you take Flagg and trade Zion. If you get two, you take Harper and no issue. Bailey is where it gets interesting.

JFC OF COURSE YOU COME BACK ONCE THE LAKERS ARE RELEVANT
To answer the OP, if you can get Flagg you take Flagg.
DJM
Zion
Trey
Flagg
Missi
CJ 6th (assuming he does sign an agreeable extension)
Also, im still looking for a C in FA.

If you get the 1st pick you take Flagg and keep Flagg. Don’t overthink it.
ETA: if the pelicans get the 2nd pick they should take Harper because he’s a point guard

I think people are confusing the question I am asking here.
I am not asking which one would you take. Flagg is going 1.
I'm asking scenarios where if you get any of those players, what do you do next?

Missi is not a starter in this league until he becomes a rim protector, definitely need a starting center for CJ or BI once they are dealt

I think you definitely have to do that.
WIth Harper or Bailey, i'd keep Zion.
Bailey is more like Trey than anything, and would fit well with Zion. I'd at least give it a try to see what it looks like, but I can see where a Trey/Bailey/Zion team doesn't fit well considering all 3 guys are a 3/4 kind of guy, and none of them are really a 2 or a 5.
If we do land in that top 4, I sure do hope they just pick the best NBA player, and not the best player that they think fits with Zion. Yeah Bailey kind of needs to be that 3/4, just like Trey, and having Zion kind of messes with that, but if he is who you think is the best over Harper and Edgecomb, then you take him, even though Harper and Edgecomb fit better on our team as a SG.

BPA and figure it out later. Flagg could absolutely play in a lineup with Trey and Zion, bring Herb off the bench.

If you get any of those players, you thank God they won’t be coached by Willie Green, who better have been fired by then.

I'm trading Zion regardless of the draft lottery. Flagg or Ace can play just fine with Herb and Trey.

Exactly, I want to draft the guy that replaces Zion.

I don’t know about the “culture”. The individuals drafted have had their specific problems and, in some cases, bad luck.

Just draft the BPA and anticipate that at least two of our big 4 will be hurt so they will never have to divide minutes between them anyway.

IF...we get Flagg...I think we should trade Zion since I think Flagg could make us a serious contender fairly soon and we should get whatever we can for Zion.
Trey, of course, stays...no matter what.
Herb...is a question mark BUT...we have at least one more year to decide on whether to trade Herb or not, while his value is still VERY high. So...hang on to Herb for another year...& if Flagg proves to be the real deal...we keep Herb...and go for the cheese.
IF...we don't land Flagg...I'm not sure it matters much...what the Pels do...

I think when you’re a poverty small market franchise like the lowly New Orleans Pelicans, you have to swing for the fences. Playing it safe will never result in a championship. We aren’t the Lakers where we magically end up with a top 5 player every 5 seasons. That’s why I think it makes no fricking sense to pivot off of Zion. I’m taking the long shot gamble on the guy who can drop 30 a night on high efficiency to materialize into the superstar we know he can be. LeBron didn’t win a championship his first stint in CLE (granted he never had injury concerns). But I’d much rather see him play beside Flagg than try to acquire lesser pieces for him.

I love Flagg, but he'll need a couple of seasons before being able to be the best player on a playoff team. He'll only be 18 years old when he enters the league.

People are so impatient. They don’t understand young players in their first couple of seasons do not bring championships. It took LeBron years to win one, Jokic years, and Tatum and Brown years to develop together and win one. Winning a championship in the NBA is ridiculously difficult, CP3 doesn’t have a ring, and KD wouldn’t have one if he didn’t go and join the Warriors. Zion going into year 7 healthy is without a doubt the Pels’ best shot unless you’re simply a Z hater who likes to make fat jokes.
