On this Pels squad? Seems like the perfect athletic rim protector we need, no? There’s an article below that could hint at what it would take to get him.

Former No. 6 overall pick Mo Bamba may be the Magic’s greatest trade chip… League executives expect Orlando to hold out for a protected first-round selection or a late first-round pick to part with the 24-year-old rim presence. There are teams like the Lakers and Clippers, as well as Toronto, Sacramento and Brooklyn, that front-office personnel expect to sniff around the big-man market ahead of the Feb. 9 trade deadline and may be willing to cough up a pair of second-round choices for Bamba.

He’s only 24 and seems to be turning a corner

We don’t need a starter, we need a bench guy.

I would actually do it, yeah. 2 2nd rounders or a heavily protected first, like a Milwaukee one?

He seems to have a good head on his shoulders, demonstrated he will put in the work, so would fit in with this group well, and he checks off several boxes. Including being a legit stretch 5 at 39% catch and shoot.

Why, are they disappointed he's not a starting center because of how high he was picked, or is he failing as a backup? His stats look pretty good for a backup, way better than the stats Jaxson is putting up this year.

I think Bamba is one of the better low cost bets to make because he has a team option next year. If he doesn't work out you can just move on and make other arrangements at center in the offseason.

For what?

I could send some combo of Jax, Kira, etc, out for him.

I don’t see spending a first on him unless it is a highly protected or is the 24 1st and we feel strongly about our success. (Our 23 is off the board due to the Laker pick swap and I would rather keep the Laker 24 deferrable to 25 than our own 24)

I'm sorry, but i'm not giving up any first round pick, even if it's protected, for the 11th guy on our team to make $10M this year and next, and hardly play except when there are injuries.

And i'm not saying i value these future 1sts so much that i wouldn't trade them, but i'm not trading one for that.

What we are looking for production wise can be found for less.

Do you guys know that Franz Wagners brother, yes he has a brother that plays in the NBA, Mo Wagner, has been in the league for 5 years, on his 4th team, and has passed up Mo Bamba on the depth chart as a 6'11" 245 C, and he doesn't shoot anywhere near as good as Bamba from 3, and he doesn't block shots like Bamba, yet he plays significantly more now after getting a bunch of DNP's to start the year?
But someone is going to give up a 1st for Mo fricking Bamba? No one wanted to pay him this $10M when he was free this offseason. No one is giving up a 1st to get him now.

I'd without a doubt take a flyer on him. hell i actually said it in the offseason to swap Jaxson out for him. But i'm not giving up a 1st for him, even if its protected. You can have Jaxson/Kira and a 2nd, or you can have DG and 2 2nds. Final offer, don't care if you take it.

I'd prefer to try to get Nerlens Noel for cheaper.
Could try to get Mason Plumlee and actually get back a 2nd or two if we send them Jax/Kira.

Yeah, the Magic aren't getting a 1st. They only resigned him because they couldn't find any takers last season. And he's on such a team friendly deal because there was no market for him. Anyone that thinks they get a 1st for Bamba must also think we can get a 1st for Hayes.

When I say heavily protected, thats what I mean

Something like top 25 protected, and that's me saying my top end offer.

And its less I'm waving that around to make the deal and more I wouldn't melt if it happened(and the only way I see that scenario even possibly playing out is if god forbid, Nance and/or Jonas went out for the year).

Obviously I would prefer 2 2nds or even a player swap + token 2nd. I don't actually think anyone is giving up a first of any kind for Mo Bamba if Im making predictions.

Billy's stats look good when you look at them but we know that doesn't tell the whole picture. Magic fans don't like Bamba because he has all the talent in the world but no BBIQ or hustle. Sounds kinda like Jaxson Hayes.

I don’t think this has been discussed before…

Either Carter or Bamba would be great. They have Bamba, Carter, and Bol Bol. One of them is going to be moved.

A top 20 protected first that turns into 2nds isn’t some crazy trade offer that people label “giving up 1sts”.

Not saying I would or wouldn’t but there’s a chance he can get traded for a protected 1st. More likely Carter gets traded for a 1st tho.

Why would Wagner leave?? You said yourself he’s been on 4 teams in 5 years and now he found a team where he gets minutes and his brother is there…. Why would he leave that situation to be an end of bench guy without minutes and leaving his brother…
