Chris Paul gave his heart and soul to a broken, f'ed up franchise. Deserves big ups. It would not have been fair for him to stay through the 3 year rebuild they did with AD. CP3, as a top 5 guy when he left, deserved better than NOLA's dysfunction.

David West, while clutch as anybody (I'll defend that point to the death), is a fake tough guy/punk. He bailed on NOLA when we needed him most and hid behind the veil of "wanting to win" (which he didn't) and "needing a change of scenery" (he just proved how much "home" matters to him) Futher, his stupid knee injury submarined the Hornets last good playoff run before it even started. He's the singular reason Chris Paul hasn't been in a Conference Final. If he plays in that Lakers series, the Hornets run away with it.

The difference between the two is that CP3 is an all time great PG. Top 10 material. David West is a Top 200 PF. He was always too blue collar. Its the difference between a smokeshow dumping you (CP3) and a normal chick that became hotter and all around better after you took a chance on her dumping you (West). On some level, you always expected the smoke to leave, but the chick you made? Never. That's why I hate David West.

Why I still like Austin Rivers? He gets a lot of shite. I just want him to prove the haters wrong. Plus I believe in that wicked crossover. He's absolutely terrible though. It's irrational.

There is some truth there.

Hmmm, no reason to believe that.

I have to say, that's a pretty interesting interpretation of the events.

He boxes and slaps Germans in the face. I'm not sure how he'd be considered fake but I guess that's more opinion.

We... Needed him most? Then? After Paul had already left? What did we need from him? To win 7 more games that season so we could have a worse lottery pick? And Indiana made the conference finals with West, more than we ever did. So he did win more. And if he doesn't want to win, why did he just give up 11 million dollars to sign with the Spurs?

One of the dumbest reasons to hate someone I've ever heard. Man, I bet that painful process that derailed his life and ability to walk really inconvenienced us more than him. And even if we are playing by your dumb rules where you can get mad at someone for getting hurt, Paul got hurt in one of our years where we actually had finals aspirations. Odd you'd leave that out.

I feel like D. West gets this weird pass from a lot of fans, and Chris Paul get crucified.

Chris paul did it better than LeBron and Dwight Howard. He didn't get the Coach fired or leave the team high and dry. We at least got something for him.

Honestly, I can't blame either of them for leaving the shite show that was the franchise back then.

I lost respect for David West doing his lame Gary Payton and Karl Malone impression

I actively root that he doesn't get a ring now

I just hate how West went out with that ACL injury. I remember that game so well. I think it was the opening week of the NCAA tourney and Mek hit that stupid 20 footer to force OT against the Jazz. Crazy game.

With West, the Pacers made the Eastern conference finals back to back years. They went to game 7 of the conference finals one of those years. What exactly do you mean by he didn't win? The title?

quote:

"needing a change of scenery" (he just proved how much "home" matters to him)

He just took an 11 million dollar pay cut to play a smaller role in a really good team. Doesn't that back up the "want to win" quote even more.

Its professional sports. Injuries happen. He didn't will his ACL to tear. And they probably don't beat the Lakers regardless.

Incredibly this is perhaps even dumber than the above. You didn't make David West. He is a really good basketball player that played on a team that you happen to root for.

I'll never understand how any fan of having a team in this city can hate CP3. There isn't basketball in NOLA without him. He brought life to basketball in this city. Yeah he's pretty Hollywood now and kind of annoying. Doesn't discount what he did while here. People should at least feel neutral towards him.
