re: The return of the "Cornerstone"

-Everyone on team besides Davis, Gordon, Anderson injured-

-Makes Eric Gordon injury prone joke-
quote:

David West, while clutch as anybody (I'll defend that point to the death), is a fake tough guy/punk.

He boxes and slaps Germans in the face. I'm not sure how he'd be considered fake but I guess that's more opinion.

quote:

He bailed on NOLA when we needed him most and hid behind the veil of "wanting to win" (which he didn't) and "needing a change of scenery" (he just proved how much "home" matters to him)

We... Needed him most? Then? After Paul had already left? What did we need from him? To win 7 more games that season so we could have a worse lottery pick? And Indiana made the conference finals with West, more than we ever did. So he did win more. And if he doesn't want to win, why did he just give up 11 million dollars to sign with the Spurs?

quote:

Futher, his stupid knee injury submarined the Hornets last good playoff run before it even started. He's the singular reason Chris Paul hasn't been in a Conference Final. If he plays in that Lakers series, the Hornets run away with it.

One of the dumbest reasons to hate someone I've ever heard. Man, I bet that painful process that derailed his life and ability to walk really inconvenienced us more than him. And even if we are playing by your dumb rules where you can get mad at someone for getting hurt, Paul got hurt in one of our years where we actually had finals aspirations. Odd you'd leave that out.

Would much rather have Toney Douglas.

Most likely guys are probably Dunleavy Jr. and Gerald Green. Chicago has Snell and McDermott coming up that play similarly to Dunleavy so he will probably not be a high priority while Green had fallen out of favor in Phoenix towards the end of the season.
If Deandre showed interest in us then we'd be foolish not to at least explore getting the space for him. But he more than likely will not and it certainly wouldn't be worth it to lose Asik+Gordon and the MLE for a chance at him.
If you can consistently shoot 45% from 3 and get a few assists per game that isn't a one dimensional player. That's a valuable cog in the current style of NBA offense.
Jason Smith tried to play through the same injury and couldn't do it for long. He was praised. I'm not the biggest Gordon supporter but it shows that if you have a perception of someone you will stick to it I suppose.
Howard Beck, the author of the article, posted these on his twitter (@HowardBeck) yesterday:

quote:

Responding to my trade-season column, Pelicans source emphatically refutes suggestion that they are open to moving any core players.

quote:

Pelicans have received inquiries from other teams, mainly about Tyreke Evans. But source says they're committed to keeping him.

quote:

Pelicans officials are confident in their core. Also have plenty of room to operate under the tax threshold, so no urgency to move anyone.

quote:

Should note, in fact, that Pelicans are thrilled with Tyreke Evans' play this season. He's been their best player not named Anthony Davis.

Still on his Twitter.

Kennedy seems like a guy who just says whatever he hears on twitter. Doesn't seem very reliable. Found this without looking very hard:

LINK
quote:

He can't play defense, he won't play much. then why did they bring him in? they knew he couldnt play defense but still brought him in anyway. Stupid....

Same reason you bring any fringe player in: Depth. Hope he's better than you think and if he's not he's injury insurance.
He could probably replicate 75% of what Gordon gives us at about a fifth the price. Could be great value if he's looking more for a defined role, play time and a bit more money over a ring.

re: Do we have 0 picks for 2015 also?

Appreciate the fact that you root for us but it doesn't seem you know what you're talking about. Especially about Holiday.
It can still be done, however not many teams are sellers. There is a cap of about 2 or 3 million you can spend on draft picks to keep the NY's of the league from buying ten or so and teams value young talent over that amount generally. A second rounder could be realistically bought, especially considering how many some teams own this year. Philly has 5, Milwaukee and Minnesota have 3 each. Hard to believe a squad would want to go into the season with that many rookies.
Monroe would be like getting ice cream after a 3 course meal. Never a bad thing, but a luxury. He'd be our 4th or 3rd option on offense.

Asik would be like getting a burger after not eating in 24 hours. He wouldn't be the answer to all our defensive problems but he'd certainly help much more than Monroe.

Both would be lovely to have but Asik definitely fits better IMO.

Keep Davis, Jrue, Evans, Anderson, Withey, Rivers, Ajinca, Morrow and perhaps Babbit and Miller if they come as cheap as the cap allows.

The rest can leave.
