What was it that we needed this offseason?

It's basically going to come down to if you want to get rid of Val or not, and what 3rd team you can get involved to help with that imo.

Imagine BI or Zion with ball and cj buddy and trey on the wings. We'd feast every night. Zion/bi would eat up the middy and paint all night.

Isn’t that what our 1st round pick was drafted exactly for? Shooting doesn’t take long to develop so he will play early and if he can’t play good D then he’d be just like Hield anyway but a lot cheaper.

That’s kind of an important sentence. It says Indy didn’t want to pay what he wanted. Whoever trades for him now will. What the Pels should do is wait it out, hope Buddy has no market, and then use that to get a good deal like Cleveland did with Lauri Markannan.

So a 1st round rookie is going to give you the same production as buddy hield?
Only 3 players made over 270 3s last season. 2 of them play for gsw. The other is buddy hield.

Nobody knows how much he’s asking for, but I’m sure it’s a lot. Below is a quote from Shams:

After contract extension negotiations stalled out, Buddy Hield and the Indiana Pacers have started a dialogue to work on finding a potential trade with another team, league sources say. Hield is open to a trade elsewhere, according to rival team sources, but no deal is imminent and there aren’t any current substantive talks with any other team. The Pacers did offer Hield an extension in recent weeks, but it’s believed their proposal did not make the seven-year guard feel desired, league sources said. – via Shams Charania @ The Athletic

Unless we’ve got another player who can put up a dozen rebounds a night locked up beforehand, it would be a mistake to trade Val for Buddy. We’re already somewhere between average and not great in the rebounding category. Getting rid of the only guy we can rely on to pull down 10 boards a night without a replacement would put us firmly at the bottom of the league for rebounding and I can’t see that leading yo playoff success.

If we have someone else waiting in the wings, then I’m cool with losing Val. We just better be certain that there’s no way we end up getting screwed and starting the season without a center.

I’ve been watching this team for too long to not expect the worst case scenario whenever the front office takes risks

We don’t have the salary to make this work. You’d have to move JV and probably Kira to make money work but then you don’t have a starting center.

He won't cost over $20m per year.

There's always Greg Oden.

Also won't give 20% of buddy product. Plus buddy plays games. Played 80 games consistently. Something this teams needs.
