Yep you're correct. Thanks for reminding me to update that.

re: Draft Discussion
Wasserman just released a new mock for the full 2 rounds. LINK

Some notes:
Pels take Baylor's Davion Mitchell at #10, Villanova's Jeremiah Robinson-Earl at #35, Western Kentucky's Charles Bassey at #36, VCU's Nah'Shon Hyland at #40, and Virginia's Trey Murphy III at #51.

Pels' Talk favorite Corey Kispert goes #13.

LSU guys: Cam Thomas #22. Trendon Watford #52.

The draft board will look a lot different from now on draft day, but if it resembled this mock, packaging some of our picks to get back into the 20s or early second to get one of Sharife Cooper, Chris Duarte, or Deuce McBride would be my preference.

I think that's a little high for Mitchell, but I think everyone knows he is going to be a player so I'm not mad at it.

re: Draft Discussion
They'd trade the pick before they select a PG. I can't see any scenario where they select him in the lottery. They invested too much in Kira and NAW to be double dipping for another PG. And this is without considering that Bledsoe and Ball still be here when the draft rolls around.

re: Draft Discussion
If he a good shooter that's what we need right. Position is kind of irrelevant isn't it. Especially with zion being ball handler. If Mitchell can guard on defense and knock down shots that's what we need.

re: Draft Discussion
It's very revelant especially if they decide to bring Ball back. With the Bulls out of the Ball sweepstakes, if the Knicks decide they aren't offering anything over 18 a year, the Pelicans could very well match and Ball is retained. Taking Mitchell would be a waste at that point.

And that's not even factoring in Hart and Iwundu. And maybe even Didi if they bring him over. The backcourt is already crowded.

re: Draft Discussion
Yeah I’m not a fan of drafting a 22 year old pg when we have guys that we are high on

Sign me up. Mitchell is a defensive all star on the perimeter, Bassey is a great defensive complement to Zion, grest rebounder. No shooters here but if you build around Zion and focus on D and rebounding, the shooters will come.

re: Draft Discussion
I admit that I have only caught bits and pieces of Mitchell, and while I think he looks good, we are loaded up at guard right now and if rumors are correct we may be in the Beal sweepstakes.

Unless Mitchell is secretly some can’t miss all star prospect, I’d probably prefer basically any of the 3/4 guys still available that our office ranks highest amongst them on that mock at this point.

I think Davion could be an exception on drafting a guard that high because he can play both guard positions and he's not really a guy who you would be drafting to spend significant resources to develop. Drafting Davion would mean our FO is prioritizing fit and readiness next to Zion and BI over shooting for the highest ceiling guy. A guard unit of Kira/NAW/Lonzo/Mitchell is very multiple in what they project to provide. Bledsoe is gone this time next year. For some reason Didi is more of a myth to me. Iwundu doesn't really move the needle one way or the other to me. Hart can get his minutes at the 3. Wasserman also threw in that this might be a more likely pick for them if they don't want to pay Lonzo.

It's an avenue that could make sense based on Mitchell's specific skillset and NBA readiness..... But I agree it is more likely that we trade the pick or choose another position if we end up at pick 10 given what our FO has shown as its draft philosophy -- targeting high upside like they have with Jax, Kira, passing on Brandon Clarke, trying to move up for PatWill, not staying put for guys like Bane, Tillman, etc., etc.

re: Draft Discussion
Davion Mitchell is an absolute dog. His defense is incredible. His offense isn’t bad either

People who think this are really just using recency bias in my opinion. Davion is great, and will be in the NBA for a while if he keeps the mentality he has right now.

I think he’s going to be a more athletic PatBev with glimpses of Donovan Mitchell scoring, maybe like B or C tier scoring when compared to A tier Donovan. This is a super good player, but I picture him as a Jrue level ceiling, not really a multi-time all star ceiling

re: Draft Discussion
I’d be disappointed with Kispert over Mitchell, not that it’s setting up to be a choice between the two but the board seems to really like Kispert. I see him as a one dimensional catch and shoot guy, a very good one but just think a 3pt specialist can be found vía trade or free agency or developed.

Guards that affect the game on both sides of the court, set up teammates, get the hole, shoot over 40% from 3... there’s a handful of them in the league. The defense is huge too. We didn’t get swept by Portland this year because we can’t shoot threes. We lost to Portland three times because Dame scored 43, 50, 36. I like the guards on our roster but none of them have shut down D skills.

I personally think the NBA 3 pointer will affect Davion a lot. Haven’t seen him make a 3 when his feet werent hugging the college line this year, and he’d rather pull up midrange than 3

Kispert is a little more than just a 3 point guy. He’s a pretty crafty scorer in the half court and has size and decent athleticism. I feel like he’d have more of a Klay like gravity than a Korver type gravity because he can curl screens and is a great cutter off ball

re: Draft Discussion
Mitchell's age and FT% scares me. Not sure what to think of his offensive potential. Don't see him as a PG and don't know what his ceiling is as a scorer.

re: Draft Discussion
We really don’t need an all star player, just one that can fit us really well. I feel our starting lineup is already there.

Lonzo
NAW
Ingram
Zion
Hayes

With Kira/Hart being the “6th man”

I think we need a 3 and D wing and then move Ingram to the 2. Then you have a lineup you can ride or die with.

re: Draft Discussion
I know we need shooting... I know we need shooting...But seeing James Johnson swing out and guard multiple positions and also add a little playmaking.... makes me want Scottie Barnes or Jalen Johnson. They both have suspect shots, but they can move they can defend, and run pick and roll when Zion’s on the bench. Also both have star potential. The draft is about finding stars. Which you can either to trade for Beal or to grow alongside Z and BI.

If you like Kispert, you might as well trade for Doug McDermott. Which is not a bad idea...
