Fears vs. Acuff / Queen vs. Boozer

Posted by six4lsu on 4/4/26 at 9:50 pm
Ok, let me state the obvious - the trade was unbelievably dumb... even though I really love both rookies, the process was flawed.

With that said, I think we will come out of this in good shape. Let's say the pick ends up 4-6. You are looking at Boozer or Acuff. I think Fears is going to be a better player than Acuff(better athlete/ defender...Acuff is a slightly better shooter), and I really wouldn't be surprised if Queen turns out better than Boozer.

Also despite the hype, I think the 25 class is going to end is being as good as 26.

I know this is a little high for him, but Caleb Banks has a little Albert Haynesworth to his game. Guys that big that are that disruptive in the backfield can anchor a whole defense.

They are finally putting it together. DJ has been so much better than I could have imagined. Athletically I see no drop off which is incredible. His fire is so important. He is on guys arse when they blow an assignment.

The bigs are playing better. Karlo snd Yves have really grown. The rookies are improving and look confident. Fears makes 2-3 jaw dropping plays a game. Queen is figuring it out. Tonight was his best game in a while.
If Queen gets a little more knee bend he will start hitting threes. His shots are on line/ have decent arc but they are just coming up a little short. Queen will be burying them by March. He is a fast learner.

He was a big time 5 star prospect in high school, but bailed on fsu for Nebraska. Left after a so so year and fell to the second.

You can tell he believes that he belongs

Injured Players?

Ok forget Zion*...lost cause

Herb, Poole, & Karlo have beed scheduled to return for a week. Now Missi is out as well.

Look I get the season is a bust but where is the management pushing these guys to play... one more guy and you win that game and several other ones.

*Although how the F did he get hurt sitting?

What happened to Hawkins?
Reed Sheppard, gotta be one of the most overhyped prospects in recent memory.

Half the time he doesn't look like an NBA player.

Well maybe Whitehead will pop for them.

What would it take to get Duop Reath from the Blazers? Probably not much

This might be nothing... but it looked like in the footage from practice today Karlo was scrimmaging with the 1's.

They probably rotate the bigs from practice to practice but that's an interesting lineup. Kid has some skills.

Whoever downvoted the Fears quotes, just get ya trash off the board. People actually want talk basketball.

Shoots right, but he also made a contested left handed hook shot in summer league.... he is such a unique player... I have no idea how it translates but its going to be fun to watch.
I said that Queen looks in shape because he looks in shape. I was being positive. If you know anything about DQ, his body/fitness has come a long way since high school....much like Naz. This is encouraging, bc he was not in peak form at summer league. This was obvious to everyone.

Dumars was quoted as saying "There is nothing wrong with his legs" inferring he expected DQ to work on cardio.

I am excited to see both rookies. I actually think we are going to shock the league... and I say regardless of the rookie's contribution. Anything we get from the rooks is lagniappe.

Queen looks surprisingly slim and Fears looks a like he has been in weight room.

What I think:

Zion if its going to happen this is it. Hopefully this Joe/Z connection is real.

Trey is going to blow up. I actually think he has underperformed shooting wise to what his potential is. He shot 36% I think he should be right at or over 40%.

Poole, I think he is going to be fun to watch.

It may start out slow, buy I think eventually Queen is going to have some real moments vs back up centers.

Missi has worked his arse off in the offseason. He is going to be better. Is that good enough? Who knows.

Boldest take: everyone has given up on Hawk. I remember it took JJ Reddick a few yrs in Orlando to figure it out. I think Hawkins shoots it better from 3 this year.

What I don't have any feel on:

No idea what Fears gives you. Might have a season in the g league alla Reed Sheppard

No idea what DJ looks like post achilles.

No idea if this team can defend enough to win.

Why they brought back Willie....

Missi Afrobasket Highlights

Some nice counter moves and his handle looks lower/tighter.

It's the offseason. Missi afrobasket

Zion, Poole, Herb, Trey, Queen

I don't know how that works on boards / D, but mannnn...I would buy a ticket to see that offense.
Hear me out…

Anyone who has ever mentored a young colleague knows what I'm talking about

Sometimes in life, when you finally start doing the things others have been urging you to do (like Zion finally focusing on conditioning), the best thing that can happen is getting the chance to mentor someone facing the same struggle (like Queens).

Teaching someone else holds you accountable — it reinforces your own growth because you now feel a responsibility to lead by example.

Who are these refs? Weird arse calls.

Minnesota always has a super aggressive ...handsy....summer league team.
Beringer was one of those Giannis like films where you watch it and question if what your seeing is real.

He is not going to be Giannis but kid is a freak
