Differing opinions are a good thing, most of the stuff I've learned from this board are things I learned when someone said something ridiculous and I investigated it further. But to me saying Kyrie won't go to New York because of DSJ is like saying he wouldn't go to New York because they have Mudiay on their roster.
Will New York possibly be forced to go with a full on rebuild because they won't get the 1st pick to trade for AD to attract 2 other Max players? Yes. But I can't imagine that they're preferred path is anything other than trading all of their future assets for AD and signing 2 more max players.

Without a doubt. I prefer a non-echo chamber environment. Still doesn’t mean it’s not bullshite lol.

The AD domino will fall pretty much immediately after the lottery and we will get a massive haul from either the Celtics or Knicks..
Ainge knows the key to Kyrie staying is getting AD, the Knicks know their key to getting anybody is by getting AD...
This honestly couldnt have worked out any better for the Pels that he requested it going into this offseason, had he requested a trade last offseason we wouldnt have gotten as much in return

DeAndre Jordan and Wes Matthews. DJ and WM will be bought out so they will not play for the Knicks. I am almost certain the Knicks will finish with the worst record in the NBA.
solid post. Thanks.
I heard they will be bought out too.
Even if Knicks get the 1st pick, what do you get in deal? Zion and nothing worth spit?
Capt obvious sez: finishing last does not confer Knicks advantage over bulls, Cavs, suns who also will have 1 out of 7 chance.
Hawks have a shot.

Knicks will end up with a 14% chance at #1 and 13.4% at #2 (27.4% chance of Zion or Morant). They also have all of their future picks, two future Mavs picks including an unprotected pick likely to be in 2021 and young players with potential in DSJ and Knox.
Here are the odds as of now:

NYK has about 80M in cap this off season. If they absorb AD salary that leaves about 54M in cap space.
KD cap will be 38M. So you think Kyrie will sign for around 20M in NY opposed to over 30M in Cali? I do not think so!

what salaries can nyk trade us that's enough for a trade to be approved?

So I actually like Morant a little better than Zion, but I would be perfectly fine with either.
This is why I said there is no point in discussing whether or not the Knicks will get the #1 pick if we won't get to evaluate and possibly accept their total offer until the draft order is determined in mid-May (when I said offseason, I meant until at least the draft order is determined). All we can do is operate under the assumption that the Knicks will get either the #1 or #2 pick in the draft.
So let's assume that happens, which is the best case scenario for the Pels to create leverage against Boston.
Knicks assets to deal for AD: Zion or Morant, Knox, DSJ, Ntilikina, Robinson, Dallas 2021 unprotected (loaded draft), Dallas 2023 1-10 protection, and all future NYK draft picks.
Boston assets to deal for AD: Tatum, Brown, Smart, 2019 Sac pick (protected #1), 2019 Clips pick (lottery protected), 2019 Mem pick (protected 1-8), and all future BOS draft picks.
The Memphis pick is an amazing draft asset, imo. Assuming Memphis goes into rebuilding mode, it is protected 1-8 in 2019, 1-6 2020, and unprotected 2021. That may be the most valuable draft asset the Cs can offer.
Not saying we would get all of that listed above from either team, but the better package NYK can put together, the better for us as we can either take a better deal from them or leverage it against the Celtics.

The salaries wouldnt have to match since they have cap space.. They could do a straight AD for picks trade
Posted on 2/1/19 at 2:23 pm to Chad504boy
Just trading us Lance Thomas and Knox gets them to 90 million in cap space.
That would leave them 63ish million to sign both Durant and Kyrie if they wanted to I guess.
Of course they would have no other players on the roster left lol.
They could make more room too if we are willing to take on DSJ, or they rescind Mudiay's QO.

I don't know. Maybe I'm jaded but in my experience the longer a deal sits on the shelf fermenting, the more complications ensue. You just can't anticipate all the contingencies that might arise. Therefore, if (and it's a big if) NY puts a knockout deal on the table pre-deadline to ensure getting AD, I might take it. That offer to include at least 3 first rounders (including their's this year) + Knox, DSJ and some combo of Tilikina/Robinson/Mudiay. None of that still may add up to Jayson Tatum, but I might be willing to absorb the risk of where the Knick's first rounder lands in order to do something sooner rather than later.

Seen that we are talking to the Jazz and Sixers about Mirotic

Utah is seeking a perimeter-oriented big man to play with Rudy Gobert and could land Mirotic with a first-round pick. The big question would be whether Utah would ship out starting forward Derrick Favors, whose contract is not guaranteed for next year, or piece together a deal featuring some young players (Raul Neto, Tony Bradley) along with a pick.
Portland, which is very much a buyer for roster depth at the deadline, could be a factor for Mirotic, and the Rockets have long coveted him as a long-range big man. Both are expected to make a pitch for him.

Anthony Davis gets the attention but sources tell SN Pelicans are doing brisk business on Nikola Mirotic, with Sixers and Jazz inquiring. NOLA is hoping to get a 1st-rounder.
Jazz nearly got Mirotic last year. Blazers, Rockets are factors, too:

What assets would the Pelicans desire from those teams?
