It can be All of the Above. People are complex with competing/conflicting desires.

He can want to win. He can want to be in a big market. It's not just one or the other. If anything it's probably finding the right balance of everything. Just because the Knicks/Lakers have been train wrecks doesn't mean they will continue to be. Hell, look at what's happened in New Orleans the past month.

Would anyone be stunned if Griffin tried to bring Kyrie here...

That wouldn't surprise me at all. He drafted Kyrie. Kyrie / AD / Zion / Jrue would be a top 2 or 3 team in the league.

How do we get there? Moore traded for a second then stretching Hill? Attaching an asset to move Hill outright?

Getting rid of Moore will be easy. He's an expiring and a good 3pt shooter. I would trade him for a 2nd. I would then trade that pick, our other two second round picks (if necessary), and Hill's expiring for cap space.

One option is to revoke everyone's rights then:

Trade

Pels Receive: J.R. Smith
Cavs Receive: Solo, Pel's 2nd, and a 2nd from Team 3
Team 3 Receive: Moore

Waiving Smith gets you to just about $33 million under the cap.

Why would Cleveland take on Hills $13 million salary ($9 million more guaranteed than Smith) for a couple of 2nds?

I mean the Zion chip alone is a big one. I can't really think of a situation where a team already having a top 5 player got the #1 overall pick with a big time prospect like Zion there.

David Robinson, the Spurs, and Tim Duncan.

This. It isn’t necessarily about winning. Thing I don’t get is, be a loser in a big market, or be a winner in a small one? And if he ends up with kd and kyrie, or even lebron, is he ok with not being the man? I mean, this is the guy who came out and declared himself the best player in the world.

Why wouldn't they trade a player they told to GTFO that can actually net them something positive in return. They don't care about taking on salary for 1 year. Someone can give them a 2nd or two and cash.

Wiggins was considered a big deal before going to Kansas. At Kansas he didn’t live up the hype. At no point did he ever show great playmaking ability, not good on defense, and he always has had a limited game. Zion was very hyped in high school but had a lot of people (myself included) doubt him because all we saw is him dunking on little white kids. He went to college and was one of the most dominant we’ve ever seen.

Griffin is oddly confident every time it’s brought up. It’s almost like he certain he could convince AD to stay. What reason would he have for doing that if he didn’t truly feel he has a chance of keeping him? I assume he has had talks with Rich Paul about how this isn’t the same situation AD was in prior.

The best salesmen always portray total confidence and optimism, even when they know what they are selling is complete bullshite.

I dunno if it’s bullshite, though. It seems obvious that this organization has made a miraculous shift. It’s not the same organization AD has been part of. That’s at least worth listening to. Pels are in a very good spot going forward

There is one. Spurs Robinson and Duncan. That worked out pretty well.

Because they could actually get an asset for him without taking on dead weight like Hill. Teams are interested in that contract as a cap or luxury tax savings. The Cavs would do better off just cutting him than paying $9 million for 2 2nd rounders.

Explain to me what AD has done over Damien Lillard in his career.

Same class, Dame won Roy. Dame has been to the playoffs seemingly almost every year? Dame has been to conf finals. Dame has a signature clutch moment all time in playoff history.

Remind me of AD’s clutchness?
