re: So, the whole piano story was BS?

I think it'd be one thing if I came here (or anywhere) with stuff and was regularly wrong. I post here, add to discussion and shed some light on different things, and get flamed like this. A handful of you keep screaming at me to explain myself. I say Griff lied today. And that isn't good enough. frick off, I'm not going to tell you all the steps I took and people I talked to. You're not my boss.

This whole thing turned into a Gamegate harassment campaign against me under the guise of but it's about ethics in Pels journalism!

The frick should I keep coming back for?
I'm pretty good about not being used. And I think my track record speaks for itself. Nothing stated today really contradicts the story. If you don't believe me that's fine. I'll stop posting here.
If you can't see what I'm saying I don't know what to tell you. Piano/keyboard same thing.

It's very clear some of you have made up your mind on this and me saying Griff lied/misrepresented the truth in his remarks today isn't going to change that. You've made this about me instead of Griff doing a bad job.
Appreciate the defense of me, but don't need it. My girlfriend is way hotter than whoever he is with, and she's quite accomplished too. I don't spend my spare time attacking others online to make me feel better about my shitty life. Plus, I'm glad he follows me on twitter and listens to my stuff. Loyal listeners like him are why this, as my side hustle, pays more than being a high school football special teams coordinator.

As for the piano stuff. It really could be a simple as Griff lied. Wouldn't be the first time he has flat out lied in an interview. Or it could be as some people stated on here. Maybe he, himself, was learning to play the piano and therefore doesn't know how to play yet.

If you don't want to believe me that's fine. Though it's not like I have a history of being wrong about this stuff.
Let me be really clear in this: frick off.

Y'all want me to interact with the board, ask me questions,I'm not going to if crap like this is here. And, yes, I could shed more light on this story and what Griff said today.

This isn't even remotely true. There is a lot of stuff from Dell Demps that still hasn't been reported and there is a whole lot with this that hasn't been either.
In terms of the player stuff. I think it's an even mix of good and bad. I agree he's drafted reasonably well. We'll kinda get an answer to that this season with Jax and NAW taking bigger roles. They live up to the expectations and he gets a great grade there.

But the other stuff has been BAD. SVG was a BAD hire. Trading a pick to get Steven Adams, giving him an extension, then trading another pick to move off of him was terrible. You say they still have assets to make a move and they do, but I'd rather have more assets to make that move.

And that's not even counting that right now they can use relevant picks to make a move at the trade deadline this year.
In regards to the winning fixes things...Yes. But also not entirely.

I agree it doesn't matter that much if Griff and Zion don't have a buddy buddy relationship. But you also don't want it to be weird. I can tell you for a fact Zion found the piano thing weird. Off putting.

You can win (or be at a thriving company) but if you don't like your boss/environment/culture you'll still want out. So, you can call it silly or trivial but doing strange shite that makes people feel weird negates winning to an extent.

That's not even getting into looking at how the culture Griff is trying to build hasn't even remotely happened. Staffers making fun of you in group texts isn't a good thing. Saying FAMILY and then saying bad things about Gentry behind his back goes against that culture.

So, yes, we'll deal with Zion when we see him Monday. And I'd like him around the team much more. But is it he never wanted to be here or maybe Griff hasn't built a place where Zion wants to be.
I hope the opening bit was good at least!

Jake had a stupid rant on his show today about the piano, and then he said later that it doesn't matter if Zion has a relationship with Griff, that they just need to win.

Uh...thank you for listening?

he's got good BBIQ

I read that just as BBQ and immediately thought I should try and get him on the show to share his brisket recipe

Ha! You won't see may say that, not because I love the Lakers, but because I just don't care. Doing this for 10 years now you definitely die inside as a fan.

It's 15 segments a week. It's a lot (especially when this team has been in the offseason since May) and this isn't my fulltime job. I'll fully admit I mail it in on a segment here and there. Though the past few weeks I think have been very good.

Despite it being a daily show, I don't expect people to listen daily. Actually, the average is someone only listens to 4 shows per month . So about once per week. Probably because of the bandwidth reasons you mentioned.

To another poster: Not from Nola originally. From Los Angeles. Been here since 2004.

That's totally fair to say. And I'm aware of that. Sometimes that's how the flow of a show goes, or I tease something for another day and new things come up so I don't get to it. It is actually something I've thought about before and have more or less eliminated.

when is the last time a media member got one of their random trade machine ideas correct? I guess they make for good discussion but kind of pointless as they're rarely steeped in reality

I mean, the sun is going to explode some day so everything we do is kind of pointless.

Also, none of us actually influence the team and help the wins and losses and moves they make. It's all about providing/creating discussion about something people are passionate about. I'm here to fill time in people's lives. What more do you want me to do?

Also, in this trade the Kings got the 40th pick as well. But since we didn't do a 2nd round mock it didn't really factor in.
I'm not going to read 15 pages but just wanted to say this has to be the dumbest fricking title of a thread that I've seen on here
Might pop in for a minute but I'll mainly be on Twitter and trying to watch like 4 games at once.

Also, those commercials...
It's like a golden age of Pelicans coverage. You can find whatever type of work you like. Much different than like 8 years ago
Appreciate it! That's the goal. Lots of the national media is REALLY good. But they don't have the time to be as in depth and nuanced like the local media are. It's one of the reasons why I love what we're doing at Locked On. It's not a knock on anyone to say we know these teams better than the national folks.

And, yeah, many stats need context. Saying the Pels gave up open 3's doesn't tell the whole story. EVERY team gives up open three's. And explaining the issues around some of the numbers is important.

Thanks. Didn't realize they updated that website that much. Been a minute since I really been on there.

The NBA site updates daily and is an incredible tool for stats.
