I know plenty on here want him gone.

Do we actually think Griff will trade him?

No, we have all the built in excuses we need now to run it back.

BI injury. Zion injury. 49 wins

"If those things didn't happen" will be the talking points to run it back with the core.

Yes. I don't think that they can give him a massive extension with how poorly he fits with Zion. That could cripple the franchise for years.

And they really have to either trade him or extend him this summer.

Feels like he probably would want to leave if we don’t make playoffs also. Tied game, Zion gets hurt and he doesn’t get a minute after that? Seems strange.

I basically started a thread the other day on this exact point.

He SHOULD be moved.

I seriously doubt Griff will do it.

The thing that sucks about BI is that he is probably the most talented guy you can get to play in NOLA that is not actively looking to leave NOLA.

We should trade him. It’s clear he and Zion aren’t a great fit together.

But I don’t think he gets traded cause Griff loves him too much

It might not matter if BI doesn’t want to sign extension and wants to be traded. He didn’t look too happy sitting on the bench last night.

There will and should be a lot of big decisions this summer.

Center position.

BI

Trey extension

Naji offer

Do we stand pat with future draft picks or use them in a trade involving some of the above?

They should but probably won’t. Griff loves Bi and won’t trade him unless it’s for something that he feels is highway robbery

What is the timeline for this happening? Because Trey was not ready to become that player this season.

You're never going to find a 4th option who scores 20ppg.

Trey struggled early int he season coming back from injury. But once he got into a rhythm, any time he's slotted anywhere above the 4th option on this team, he was fantastic.

Its highly evident that Trey needs to start. To me its like Maxey and Harden issue. Addition by substraction. Trade BI and give his minutes to Trey- this team will substantially improve. Heck we’ve seen this with our own eyes already.

BI has great value, the pels would not have got BI to ever come to NOLA unless he was traded there or drafted there.

With that being said, you need to take full advantage of having him in NOLA.

He's in his PRIME and with the correct balance of a team you can get the most out of him in NOLA.

The only way he leaves NOLA is if he demands a trade, and I don't think he's that type of guy nor at that point in his career.

I don't want him gone at all. BI is actually one of my all time favorite Pels. I think the smart thing to do is trade him though. But I 100% think Griff will run it back and expect him to be here on a new contract.

For those saying it will never happen because Griff loves BI...

In Griff's defense, he never tells the whole truth, and one of the strengths he does have is he will cut his losses and change direction. He's done that multiple times here. I still think the odds are low simply because the trade options for BI really aren't great, but I also believe the board consensus is wrong to think there is zero chance it happens.

I think it is clear even to Griff that (1) Zion has the highest ceiling on the team, (2) our big 3 do not elevate each other's games; and (3) Trey should be in the starting lineup along with Herb.

Zion-CJ-Ingram-Herb lineups are a -4.2 in 627 minutes
Zion-CJ-Trey-Herb lineups are +6.8 in 358 minutes
Trey-CJ-Ingram-Herb lineups are +15 in 224 minutes
Zion-Trey-Ingram-Herb lineups are +4.7 in 90 minutes

CJ-Zion-Ingram minutes are -3.2
CJ-Zion minutes are +0.9
CJ-Ingram minutes are +1.8
Zion-Ingram minutes are +2

Griff has a habit of erring on the side of continuity, but I think he has seen enough from Zion on the maturity/commitment front this season to feel comfortable really building around him.

We are at $152M with 11 players for next year when the luxury tax starts at $171M. Outside of a slim chance at a trade for someone with a low salary like Jonathan Isaac, there is not a meanginful opportunity to really upgrade the roster without moving off CJ or Ingram's salary. We also have to pay Trey by next offseason at the latest, while at the same time Ingram is going to want $50M/yr.

If we weren't about to be in cap hell, I could see Griff running it back, but I think he has to make a move this offseason.
