I noticed you and all the other Rui dudes avoided my post like the plague. Funny how that works...

Answer the question
quote:

Honest question, why does he choose to play so poorly in the regular season intentionally?

If his game got a tad better on this tiny sample size, you could argue he's a big game player.

But you can't really make any logical argument that his tiny sample size of playoff game is sustainable AND he plays that poorly and much worse in the regular season and it's anything other than he's purposely playing like shite in the regular season. Any other explanation wouldn't make any sense.

It doesn't really matter whether we traded for him or not...

Guys who get traded to L.A. suddenly give 110% effort and turn into valuable role players

Guys who come here suddenly decide to value their long-term physical and mental health above all else, and you end up with decent efforts on some nights when the player feels like it

I was told by someone on here that the lakers acquisitions weren’t needle movers.

I don’t know, they’re looking pretty good.

Individually I don’t think any of them are needle movers, but we all know basketball isn’t about a single player, it’s about the group.

I mean if you look at what they gave up, Westbrook was addition by subtraction, Beverly is controversial, Nunn, Anderson, and Jones weren’t playing. Thomas Bryant was seemingly playing well for them.

But they got rid of two guys that were meh, three guys that didn’t play, and one quality rotation guy for four solid role players. And that’s on top of the ball Reaves played post trade deadline.

Weird that you didn't bump this thread tonight.

Didn’t score much but did close out the game in OT in a game they won. You’ve been proven right for sure

Rui had the 2nd highest plus minus on the Lakers tonight. +18.

So weird night to trumpet victory on a bad Rui shooting night in a game where the overall field goal percentage was 40%.

I’m not even saying we should’ve traded for him. But the continued hate for Rui while he’s played 4 positive playoff games in a row is bordering on strange.

It’s hard for some people to admit they were wrong. He’s not some great player, but I think he could have helped the team more than Richardson since that 4 spot with Zions health was a major hole.

He’s having a good series playing a bunch of mins on a team that’s about to upset the number two seed. And some of y’all are still shitting on the man.

Definitely not a useless stat, but it is a noisy stat. Trying to capture the impact of glue guy type plays…offensive gravity, extra hedging on D, hockey assists, blocking out off the ball, denying the ball to opposing stars, blowing up screens, etc is always going to be imperfect, but we all know that stuff matters and having players that excel at it is critical to winning.

For the Pels the question wasnt “Did griff screw up by not trading for Rui?”, but did Griff screw up by not getting a backup PF?
And the answer to that is a resounding YES!

Next season we will just have to see…my pessimistic prediction earlier in the season was that Griff wouldn’t address it and we would be praying that Liddell can fill that role. I still think that is a decent possibility, and although I like Liddell and he may be able to help…certainly could’ve used him in some spots this year…I really hope we add one more quality player to help shore up the interior.

If your'e doing the 1 game plus/minus thing now, good luck with that.

Some of you are trying wayyyyyyy too hard right now.

What? The poster above came at me insinuating he'd have a big game, and he completely sucked. What are you talking about right now?
quote:

But the continued hate for Rui while he’s played 4 positive playoff games in a row
Imagine thinking Rui played a positive playoff game last night and it's just "hate" to say a dude who was 2 for 9 and played a bad game simply played a bad game.

This is wild, it's reaching unhealthy levels of weirdness.

He sucked last night, it's ok to say that.

Is this real life right now? 2 for 9, you said that is a positive game, and you think it's strange and hate that I'm calling a bad game by any rational person who watched it a bad game.

Holy frick, this is hilarious.

Are you talking about the 2 pro-Rui posters who refused to admit he played a bad game? I'm gonna assume you are.

It's funny that I pointed out he played 3 good games, but all you Rui guys refuse to admit he played poorly last night, but I'm the one who refuses to admit I'm wrong.

It would be stupid for me to admit I'm wrong here because I'm not.

This has turned into one of the weirdest Pels Talk threads I've ever seen.

Let's see who is being logical about this:

Me - Says Rui has been mediocre in the regular for his career, and has played out of his mind in the playoffs but that is completely unsustainable. Rui's career TS% on this tiny sample size is higher than any player in the entire NBA's TS%. I say that is not sustainable.

Or...

You and 2 others who think the 210 game sample size of the regular season is irrelevant and 9 games proves Playoff Rui is real and sustainable, despite no player in the history of the NBA EVER sustaining a playoff improvement like that over a representative sample size, and you have Rui being the most efficient playof scorer in the entire NBA while being below average efficiency in the regular season, and also flat out refusing to respond to my question of why doesn't Rui just do this in the regular season, and also all 3 of you refuse to concede that his 2 for 9 game last night was a shite game and even one of you calling it a positive performance

Hmm...tough call on that one. Really makes you think.

It's ok, you made a dumb post last night and got a bit too cocky, and it backfired on you. It's truly ok to admit that, you'll get through it.

This is what happens when you make yourself look dumb but are too proud to admit it.

You run away from it, such a bad look for you right now.

Such a bad look lol! This is an anonymous message board brother. You are the one going over the top trying to prove you are right when no one really cares. Go touch grass and get some sun, take a moment and appreciate what’s important in your life. Or continue to take victory laps cause Rui finally had a bad shooting night in a game where basically everyone had bad shooting numbers. Your call

You said some things stupid and when you got called on it, now you want to stop talking about it and pretend you weren't the one instigating. It's almost like you didn't realize your old posts are still there for all to see.

I'm sure you wouldn't have come back to this thread if Rui dropped 30 last night, right... Cause you'd be getting some sun and all...

People who don't own their words and run from them, that never works out for them, like you're doing currently.
