Rui is a below average basketball player. Imagine thinking 2 games changes that entirely.

Playoff Rui is a real thing.

Agree…for certain matchups playing small ball works and that’s been shown for a while now, but there isn’t any doubt to me that the lack of a legitimate backup 4 to provide some size along the front, particularly against big athletic front lines, was a disaster for the Pels.

And this is what I was implying in the op.

I’m glad Rui is doing well. I want the lakers to re-sign him.

Any time you can put all your eggs in the tiny sample size instead of the 4 year sample size and get a difference maker that is -62 in 6 playoff games, you just gotta jump at the chance to get a "Playoff Rui"

You using his +/- from his time with the Wizards.. really? You are desperate. He was playing on a team with Kuzma and Porzingis as his best teammates, idk if Rui kicked your dog or something but you’re simply on the wrong side of this dispute

Cool, who is he playing with in his 30 or so Lakers games where he's been just as bad?

He's a below average basketball player. You've yet to give me anything to show he's not.

If you think he's been average or above average in his 4 years, I'm not sure what to tell you, other than being wrong is ok, being wrong and loud and getting pissy with an attitude makes you look foolish, and that's where you are now.

People get so reactionary over anything lakers. It’s pathetic. Rui isn’t anything worth having a discussion about

Right...and super defensive and angry. It's odd.

Different skill sets but in terms of the level of player, he's in the tier of where Naji is. You could argue he's better, but it ain't by much, and to your main point, who cares...they're both mediocre.

Rui rebounds a bit more, scores a bit more and more efficiently, Naji is a better passer and better defensively.

Gonna give you one more chance to admit you were wrong Shel…

Dude is as good of a role player as you’re going to acquire and I knew the day the Lakers acquired him it was annoying because he would make them better, and it’s not like they gave up anything worth value to get him.

In a weird way, even though they’re polar opposites, you’re kind of right.

I don’t dislike Naji…he can be super helpful at times (his later season poor shooting really hurt him and the Pels), but Rui being 6-8/230 and not a complete offensive zero would have filled a significant gap on the Pelicans roster.

Rui certainly isn’t the only guy, or even the best guy, to fill that role, but IMO having even a modestly competent PF would’ve been huge and the Pels wouldn’t have had to be in the playin at all if they had one.

For sure, all the hustle, determination, and fight doesn’t make up for giving away 4” and 30 lbs. …. Kind of like playing back yard ball against your four year older brother when you’re kids.

Had another solid game shooting 60%, 4th leading scorer in a win in just over 20 mins of play.

Rui is perfect for the Lakers. He's the ideal first big off the bench skill set.

He can play small ball Center with Vanderbilt or PF next to Davis.

Honest question, why does he choose to play so poorly in the regular season intentionally?

If his game got a tad better on this tiny sample size, you could argue he's a big game player.

But you can't really make any logical argument that his tiny sample size of playoff game is sustainable AND he plays that poorly and much worse in the regular season and it's anything other than he's purposely playing like shite in the regular season. Any other explanation wouldn't make any sense.

I was told by someone on here that the lakers acquisitions weren’t needle movers.

I don’t know, they’re looking pretty good.

This is the worst board for impartial Lakers opinions.

They still think they won the Davis trade.

the screw up was taking hayes & naw at 4> 8-17 instead of Rui & teammate Clarke.
