I have a csb involving Zion and my dad at the LSU football game tonight.

My dad was in line to buy some beer in the club seats and mind you he’s had a couple of beers at this point today so he tends to be extra talkative.

While in the line, he ends up looking behind him to see this really tall guy of whom is giving autographs to kids. So my dad ended up asking him, do you play on the LSU basketball team? And he ended up saying he played for New Orleans. Then my dad goes on to say, “oh!!! So you play for UNO right? Hows that?” Thats when Zion said he played for the pelicans. Keep in mind my dad basically knows nothing about professional sports and the kids that were by him had to literally spell out to him who Zion was.

Tldr;
My dad asked zion if he played for UNO not knowing he was the most hyped prospect to come to the nba since lebron, played at duke, and was a media sensation.

Also, Zion is still showing love to the fans even in BR. Gotta love this guys character!

If Zion leaves in 7 years, I'm blaming this for it.

And this is exactly why going to the LSU game was a great idea. There are a lot of sports fans in south Louisiana who aren't Pels fans and don't follow the NBA. People like your dad are the people needed to create the kind of fan base the team needs.

At the same time, capturing the kids attention breeds future fans. And the kids definitely know him.

I’m surprised ESPN didn’t make note of him being there. I know it’s a football game but it could have been a chance to interview him and say he wants to support Louisiana etc

ESPN doesn't want him to support Louisiana. They want him to demand a trade to Boston, NY, or LA.

Your dad should be embarrassed. That’s pathetic.

Also next time bring a measuring tape and whip it out so we can put all the height questions to bed.

This would be embarrassing if it were a Saints game, but it’s funny at an LSU game. At least the kids were probably incredulous and sticking up for Zion

Yall do know some people watch very little if any sports huh? Zion has only been on the seen nationally for about a year. Not really that crazy someone wouldnt know who he is. Its not like hes been on national tv for 20 years like Lebron has.

This is a very smart move by the organization. NOLA is getting younger. Tapping into college kids is the exact market you want to command.

We are going to have a hell of a ride the next few years.

It really is good marketing. They always say "Love New Orleans and it will love you back", this is the first time since the grass roots "I'm In" campaign that it feels like the Pels are doing more than the bare minimum relationship building with the city. King Cake Baby is probably the only Pels employee in the last 5 years that was out amongst the people pressing the flesh more than he absolutely had to.

So they were at the Tulane game AND the LSU game? I'm more and more impressed with these kids, as the days go by

Idk. So he knows nothing of pro sports? Fine. Does he also not follow college basketball?
Was hard to avoid the Zion stuff all last year. .
