I would not be mad at this. But would definitely want their 2021 first with minor protections. As well as pick swap rights in 2023

Other candidates for swapping an expiring for a bad contract and a pick might be Miami at 13 (any of Whiteside, Anderson, Johnson, Olynyk) or maybe Minnesota at 11 (Dieng).

Pointless trade

Why try to “Win NOW” and follow the Daddy dell young vets model ?? We’re not going to COMPETE with the Warriors. We should be aiming for 2-3 years down the line when they start slowing down and when Lebron is OUT the league.

Celtics - Tatum, Smart, etc

Knicks - RJ and Mitchell Robinson

Lakers - Ingram and #4

ALL significantly better offers

Kinda hard to find much fault in getting a bonafide all-star back. Only downside is the contract he'll have to be paid.

Ironically, I don't think CJ has ever been an all star.

I don't see how this trade fits Griffin/Langdon's game plan to build something sustainable rather than a quick fix. McCollum will be 28 and there is not much else in the package to build on.

What? He’s shined in the playoffs. Even when they got swept by the Pels he was their lone bright spot. 25.3 PPG while shooting 52% and 42% from 3. 24.7 on 44/39 this year.

If they could use that cap space from moving Solo to bring in a legit SF (Tobias Harris please) they could be a contender in the West if GS loses KD and Zion is as advertised.

I’d still rather get a young star to our with Zion, but if the other teams aren’t throwing out their best package I wouldn’t be mad at this.

Mac gets off so hard watching people eat up every word he says.

Dude literally throws out hundreds of scenarios everyday and retweets himself if anything sticks.

There's no doubt that somewhere on his twitter feed he'll have predicted the exact trade that eventually goes down.

At first I loved this idea. CJ is a very good player and can shoot. But then I saw someone post that he's about to be 28. That's far too old for a sustainable team that we're trying to build around a 18 year of Zion. I know Jrue is also that old, but I picture Jrue eventually turning into a 3rd option as he ages and Zion enters his prime. We need the centerpiece of this AD trade to be the 2nd guy. CJ won't be that guy by Zion's prime. We need to go younger

To be fair he's citing a source here, a Western Conference exec, not throwing out a hypothetical to rile the masses. He even had a back and forth where he sounds surprised Portland is trying.

I thought they'd be a candidate [if] they went one and done again, but not after the WCF

I am not a fan of a deal where CJ is the centerpiece. Where is the upside?

CJ is paid big money and only under control for 2 years. Collins and a couple of mid to late picks doesn’t change anything. I’d much prefer the Lakers deal.

McCollum will be 28 when next season begins.

I can get a 21 year old Jayson Tatum or a 22 year old Brandon Ingram.

Pass.
