I've got no problem with Zeller...from what I've seen, he can set a pick WITHOUT committing an offensive foul. And a decent "roller".

I have to think the Borrego connection played a role here, and unless they sign a Noel type too, it kind of says they may not be looking as much at rim protection as you’d think. How many more games would the Pels have won if Willie had used JV better and not gone small as much? I wonder if they didn’t like the rim protection options and decided to go the other direction just to have competent bigs on the floor.

The idea is that he simply doesn’t play. Healthy Zion/ Liddell means Nance mainly at center. Adding another rookie center means Val/ Nance/ rookie/ Zeller.

Nance is a liability at center. It’s why you sign a Zeller

Nance injuries are a liability. That’s why you sign Zeller. I’m willing to bet we add another young center to the depth.

Val/ Nance/ Hayes/ Billy Is what we had last year.

Nance had to play PF a lot as well as backup C and was injured. Hayes was garbage. So Billy played.

If we have another young C not named Jaxson Hayes and 2 healthy PFs not named Nance then we are a lot deeper than last year.

Yep be a decent pick and roll bench big and take over Temple's leadership role, and this would be a solid get.

If you’ve followed this team & training staff for the last 15 years Zeller will be playing 25-30 mpg by December

Historical data does agree with you. But if Zion is serious about his health this time and Liddell is back then that’s legit 2 extra people we were supposed to have all last season. Those 2 people being back means less wear and tear on Nance.

I really think Robbins makes the roster. He could be the rebounding/ shot blocker we need. (Or Matkovich)

I think we definitely bring in 1 of them and I think they will be a positive assets compared to Jaxson Hayes. And the reason Zeller shouldn’t be playing much.

Eh. Zellers career says the likelihood of him being healthy when Nance goes down isn’t overly likely.

You talking about the guy we just signed for more than the minimum, that has played 42 games in the last 2 years, and had only played in more than 50 games once in the last 6 years?

I’m not going to pretend I know why he has played so little, but either reason would suffice enough to say this was a shitty signing for $3.1M. Either hes always hurt and/or hes not good enough to get playing time.

I’d rather give a young player with potential a minimum deal than waste two minimum contracts on this aging bum.

You and I both know young players with potential

A) don't get minimum deals
B) don't come here on minimum deals

So you want us to sign another 30 y/o washed center instead of giving a young player a chance? We already have Val/ Nance/ and now Zeller we don’t need another center around 30 y/o

No other center worth a shite is signing a min contract and we have no money to offer more than min. Also if there was someone left that’s better than Zeller for the min (that actually was willing to come here) then they probably would have signed already.

Robbins can play in 50 games on a 2 way contract. They need another big. Never said it had to be an old guy.

I’m really excited for Summer league. We get to see Hawkins, Robbins, Matkovich, and Liddell( pretty much rookie). Not to mention our all time 2 way Seabron.

We know Seabron will have 1 2way contract. If Robbins and Matkovich both show potential then why not sign 1 and put the other on 2 way. We don’t immediately need to sign another center yet. Especially if we have 3 veteran centers as of now.

What are you talking about?
They are under rookie contracts, or they are 2nd round picks or undrafted.

Like Koloko.

I think he thought you meant Mo Bamba/ Jaxson aged bigs. Like he said the ones that aren’t coming here willingly for the min.

The answer is rookies yes.
