The day cousins got hurt was a terrible day for him as well as the pelicans. It changed everything.

@ChrisBHaynes
ESPN Sources: DeMarcus Cousins had narrowed his choices down to Golden State and Boston.
We weren't even a finalist to sign this dude.

Leads me to believe AD HAD to know this before he started recruiting Randle.

Sounds like he pouted over a short term, incentive based deal and then said frick it, he’ll sign for nothing, screw us over, and play for a contender where he’ll basically be laigniappe if he plays next season

Association...

He might not even play much this season. Round into shape by 2nd round.

I find this difficult to believe.

I told you.

Gave up buddy and a #1 for one year. Didn't even get playoff boogie.

Well due to the injury it’s incredibly unfair to judge that deal on hindsight.

You have to take a gamble like that as a small market team

The NBA needs to do something. This is absurd. Even if they are missing 3 starters, they will still dominate every game.

I think this also mainly sucks from a PR standpoint, I think you finally had the casual fans buying in and this sort of deflates a lot of that.

Long term, I think we may be better off here but I’m not sure the general fan will be too excited about the current roster or outlook

A lot of truth there.

This just kills the casual fan awareness.

True. We're better off next year with AD/Niko/Randle and maybe long term too if Boogie doesn't recover fully. But the casual fan isn't engaged enough to know that.

It's bad enough to lose Cousins but to lose him to a super team? Cousins, Rondo > Elfrid, Randle. I see the Pelicans struggle to get the 8th seed in the dominate West now.

What about half a season of Cousins + rondo vs payton/randle?

Not even mentioning if cousins signs a two year deal and comes back as half the player he was
