No link to the quote, but here’s the podcast: LINK

He said if the Lakers sign Kawhi, Silver should undo the AD trade despite all potential fallback league-wide, investigate LeBron/Klutch, and punish/fine the Lakers and essentially disband Klutch (forget his exact words but that was the gist of it) if the Lakers sign Kawhi.

His premise was that LeBron was tampering by running the actual agency as an agent instead of as a client. Said that’s against NBA rules, and that Silver must act if they get Kawhi and form another Super Team that began with “tampering” and “collusion.”

Heard it on WWL while driving home from the beach.

Just passing it along since Pels related and a slow day on Pels Talk.

While I think that’s ludicrous, I do think something needs to be done about Klutch.

Well said and I agree.

I think he nailed the problem but his solution is pretty ludicrous.

ETA: I guess the guys who fill in on holidays need to be a bit bombastic to try to get people talking about them and mentioning their names. In this case I suppose it worked.

The league isn't going to go to war with it's most marketable star. I also wonder if the league doesn't secretly want Kawhi to Los Angeles. People are preaching parity but stories sell the league and every story needs a villain.

It will never happen but I am all for more people in the media putting pressure by advancing the narrative of how competitively fricked and corrupted the league is right now.

It would be much more helpful than ESPN and every other sports personality talking about how all the league really needs is for every good player to be in either New York or LA and downplaying the harm and corruptive ways it goes about happening.

super teams are good for the league revenue.

Loyal fans of other teams want parity, unfortunately band wagoners outweigh the "fans"

I might be in the minority, but I wouldnt want that

A team of AD, Kawhi and Lebron are not unbeatable, especially since they have no money left to add around them (this year nor for the former future), no draft picks, and nobody to send out in a trade

That team would be so top heavy, 1 injury and their done, and that injury would come.pretty early in the season

I’m not worried about this season. I’m worried about how long all three stay there and are healthy.

I think it would be to late. If Silver was going to do something aboutt the Ad trade he should've done it by now. Waiting to see if Leonard signs with LA will just seem petty.

Oh also.. Basketball Reasons

I hope he doesn't go to the Lakers, but I'm not for undoing the AD trade. I kind of like the way things have been going for the Pelicans.

That doesn't make sense. Only do this if they get Kawhi? Hell. If that's against league rules, he should step in regardless.

So essentially, AD getting recruited the last 2 years and LeBron tampering and breaking rules etc is no problem, or at least not a problem worth dealing with.

BUT

If a completely separate party with separate representation decides to join them, the LeBron tampering and rule breaking with respect to AD is so bad that the NBA should declare war on him and his associates.

Makes sense.

I think he’s just trying to make a name for himself during a rare opportunity on national radio.

The dude even said that Carmelo and Dwight don’t count because they “suck at basketball and in the locker room.”

I got the impression that the host knew that his proposal had some major holes in it. He admitted as much.

That said, he spent a lot of time talking about LeBron running Klutch, AD harming the Pelicans by scaring off the Celtics (which I assume is conduct prohibited by his contract).

He made a lot of very good points. His proposed solution just went off the rails.

Even though I disagree with his proposal, I’d be all in favor of the NBA investigating Klutch and getting a hold of phone, text and email communications and taking appropriate action based on what they find (another part of his proposal).

My biggest takeaway was that the guy was making a lot of the points that have been repeated ad nauseam on here and said it all on national radio during a major holiday when a lot of people are tuning in while driving.

He didn’t fully think the solution through, but he did a great job articulating the problem.

It was nice to hear something that wasn’t pro-NY and LA propaganda on national radio.

Best solution at this point? Trade goes through but the league voids AD’s contract and strips his Bird rights.

That fricks them long term because it means the Clips and Knicks are able to offer AD a better deal

You have to remember, they will have no money to add anybody around them guys

Next year cap for them

Lebron 40
AD 36
Kawhi 36
Kuz 4
Deng 5

That's all they would have on the books, and they would already be over the projected cap of 119

Their cap would be screwed for years.. It wouldnt be a Golden State scenario where they already had everyone on cheap deals and was able to drop KD in

It would be a case of you have a big 3, then a bunch of scrubs, every single year

They would be forced to play 36-40 minutes every night in the regular season to try to make the playoffs, then you will see the major injuries start to happen

If you have those 3 you are winning 1-2 rings in 3-4 years. Not year 1 but the next year when you can build some depth. It’ll happen.

History shows it. But it will also evaporate after 4 years. These teams always always do.

The Toronto Raptors just won the title. The Cleveland Cavaliers were in 4 straight finals, beating a 73 win team. The Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets are favorites in the Western Conference. The Milwaukee Bucks won 60 games.
