re: As it appears Demps/Gentry are staying, how do you see this offseason unfolding?

I think we'll see the first rumors about AD being unhappy with the long-term direction start to creep out, unfortunately.
Placing well in the lottery could help us avoid that - fingers crossed, mates

Unfortunately I think that is the first domino for Dell. I think Dell wants him back and needs to know his decision before pursuing other free agents.
If that becomes true I will be insanely dismayed by this organization.
It was a good deal the first time. It would be an awful overpay the second go round. You just can't be paying 15+ million to a guy that backs up your strongest position and can't play half the game of basketball.

We land the number 2 overall pick and get whoever does not go first between Ingram/Simmons. Sign Ezeli and Speights. Resign Anderson to a reasonable contract. Make Gordon pay us to take him back. Houston trades their first next year for Omer.
A man can dream, can't he?

My prediction is that there are a couple of surprises ahead. And the board will be fragmented in its reaction.

I predict we land 1 and trade rake, and omer asik for Noah, Butler, and their first

I hope your dream doesnt come true. If we hit the jackpot and get the first pick I am not trading it for Butler. 3-6? Sure. But not Simmons or Ingram. Having a potential top 10 player or possible superstar on a rookie contract that can be held onto for 8 or so seasons is more valuable then I think you are giving credit to.

Well, I am glad to see this board is finally accepting it.
Better late than never.

Sorry what I told ya'll months ago didn't line up with what you want to hear. Some guy gives some inside info on what ya'll wanted to hear and you slurped it up
Sorry, I can't do that. The truth is that this franchise is rotted from the core. The owner wants to win now. The management wants to save their jobs at the possible expense of the future, and that aint changing anytime soon.
Keep denying it, but I know the truth and soon you all will see it....as much as you try to deny that what I say is true.
Enjoy rooting for this broken organization!

i cant look at you the same after fletcher mackel embarrassed you on twitter last offseason

Its all good. I don't have to pretend to respect you guys anymore. The people who I care about know who I talk to, and they know how foolish you look when you say I have no connects.
All good. Keep hoping this thing will turn around. If you only knew how impossible that is, outside of landing one of the top two picks. Pray for that on Tuesday. If not, hope Buddy hits his ceiling or some dumb team falls for a guy at 6 or 7 and we actually get a good player when Dell trades it

This isn't earth shattering. Anyone paying attention to the Pels over the last 4 years can pick up on it.
The reason there are threads about firing Demps is people hope a white knight can fix this mess. And if he is fired, ownership might finally have pulled its head from its arse.

We will pick a player and trade him away for cash consideration

My god you are insufferable. Listen "CP3 and 11 Others", I know you've been posing as a fake insider for a long time, but just tell the truth. The only people that would know jack shite about Demps' job would be Loomis's inner circle. Which you aren't privy to. Fact.
None of us have any illusions that this franchise will turn it around. Those of us that actually have a shred of intelligence are aware. The AD era might as well be over as far as I'm concerned. But we're fans. We can still hope they buy a clue.

Crewz is clearly a dick, but this is right...
It's so hopeless right now. It makes you wonder how this organization is so bad. How can we screw up this opportunity so much. We won with CP3. It's obviously possible to be a competitive franchise. I just don't know. Demps clearly should have been fired with Monty. We need a GM and HC who are on the same page with the same vision.

Yeah I have no illusions that the philosophy and mission statement from ownership and front office was as stated by MM fling into the offseason. And to me is a critically flawed approach.
The thing MM has to understand though is that you have several insiders that have provided conflicting Intel. You have Zach Lowe near the trade deadline painting a picture that is hard not to infer that Demps is in the dog house and on his way out.
Then the offseason for the Pels comes around and you have MM saying nothing will change prior to it. Which I interpreted more as opinion to me then a proclamation of verifiable insider knowledge from inside the Loomis circle that has been notoriously tough to penetrate from the media. Who, no offense, hasn't really established any sort of proven track record for insider Intel from that level of the organization. But I wasn't going to dismiss it and it sort of lines up with an occams razor sort of approach of assessing everything.
So you have that but then soon you have the canceling of the annual press conference, the evasive responses from Loomis and other reports of Demps likely being gone.
So unless you have some strong underlying biases pushing your judgement one way, a wise outsider fan unable to verify the legitimacy of any one claim wouldn't marry themselves to any one possibility stemming from them. So that's where you get the sense that hope for positive change shouldn't be off the table, although maybe teetering over the edge and a bit wobbly.

quote:No, winning starts from the top. Ownership has to understand that what it takes to win in the NBA before we start looking for GMs and coaches because I think the results of would have been the same no matter what. It doesn't matter if it's Dell, Dumars, or Schlenk, as long as the mandate from ownership is "win immediately", nothing will change.
