As it appears Demps/Gentry are staying, how do you see this offseason unfolding?

We know that Demps's strategy has been to try and acquire young vets as much as possible. We know that virtually all of his moves have been via trade and he does not value draft picks in the least.

We also have seen how Gentry's system can be more efficient with players who buy into the system, even if they aren't the most talented guys.

I'm not asking how you would do it...I'm asking how you think Demps will approach it?

If we are in the Top 3 in the lottery I think while he puts offers out there for a star vet, we end up using the pick.

If its at 6 or 7, the chances of us trading it are extremely high. I wouldn't put it past Derps to use that pick to dump an Asik contract and get minimal stuff in return.

I think he will push hard to trade Tyreke Evans but won't have much interest.

I think we sign a mid-tier SF after pursuing Batum and maybe even Parsons.

I think we should let Ryno go, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if Demps trys to keep him.

A bad pick like Heild over paying Barnes missing the playoffs and then AD trade rumors. We have a desperate GM on our hands and will do anything to save his job now rather than build.

Not a bad pick.

over paying Barnes

Wouldn't be good.

We do have to believe that Demps is extremely desperate at this point, which is why not firing him could be disastrous.

Imagine trading 5 quarters for a dollar bill because you like the color green. That's how Dell Derps goes about roster management.

Trading the pick to dump Asik, signing an underwhelming SF and overpaying for Anderson to stay. Then have a slightly-less-shitty team while we waste AD's prime.

Hate to say it.

Honestly, I can completely see this.

Dunn/Murray at 6.

Second tier SF. Is Crabbe a legit target for us? Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Eric/Ryno are gone.

Reke stays. He couldn't or wouldn't find a taker for Ryno, how is he going to move Reke?

Need to be healthy.

Jrue/Dunn/Frazier
Reke/Q
Crabbe/Q
AD/DC/2nd rounder
Asik/Frenchy/2nd rounder

ETA: No F'ing way we use the pick to move Asik. Also, the 5 is tough to look at on this team.

Not my boy, I don't know him. He didn't. He said he thought it was happening but wasn't 100% sure on it. He's been right before. He's wrong now, apparently.

Save it for the other thread.

I think some of y'all are misreading what Demps is motivated by.

First, he's not using our 1st to dump Asik unless it's a secondary part of the deal, like Memphis HAD to take Rivers for QPon. I could see #3 and Asik for Brook Lopez if you can talk Brooklyn into it and the Pels wanted Lopez. Outside of something like that we're stuck with Asik until a good opportunity comes along. How many assets did we use to dump Gordon?

Second, he doesn't avoid drafting, he avoids uncertainty. Austin Rivers was more certain to them than any other pick because of Monty's inside info. Jrue was more certain than 6 and 10. Asik was more certain than the next year's 1st. With that in mind, Buddy Hield seems to be about as certain as non star draft picks get. I don't think he'd hesitate to draft Hield. If Hield is off the board then the uncertainty starts creeping in and you have to wonder if he has any side deals set up like #6 to the Magic who have several nice but not great young players that fit the Jrue/Tyreke target mold.

Demp's future: I think even if Demps retains his job, he has one foot out the door and will not have the final say in any moves. Will they really let this guy trade another pick away if they dont fully trust that he will be the GM in 2-3 years?

Draft: I think they target a guy like Hield or Kris Dunn, where they can come in and contribute right away, and see that as a "free agent" type move without spending FA dollars. Jamal Murray also, I think is someone they can see who may not play starter minutes off the bat, but could maybe alleviate some of the outside shooting we can potentially lose with Gordon and Anderson.

Free Agency: As for the team itself, I would hope they'd have everyone on the block, except AD. Dumping Asik will be ideal, as would Evans. Not against trading Holiday if we can dump the trash with him. I think he is a ticking time bomb with his injuries, and trading him now while his stock is higher may be in play.

Batum should be priority #1. I hope they stay away from Barnes. I wouldnt mind kicking the tires on Evan Turner.

would like them to pass on re-signing Ryno in lieu of a cheaper options like Jon Leuer, Marvin Williams or Teletovic.

#6 for Dipo?

Agree with Lester, if we're gonna dump Asik it will be with Jrue, not the pick.

I could see him making a play for an Oladipo type player.

FYI, went over to PR again. Man the level of delusion is unreal.

I think Dell first tries to overpay Ryno if Ryno allows. Next I think Dell tries to sign Solomon Hill and Evan Fournier if he can.

Ownership will not let him trade the top pick. Hopefully it will be 1 or 2 and he can't frick it up too bad.

Then its horrendous ownership/management to keep him. Since he is the head basketball guy, you have to have full faith and let him make the calls (within reason), or they should fire him. We don't have a legitimate POBO over him here to make the calls, so the GM has to be the one to do so. If they doubt him, they need to fire him.

Ryno's cap hold is only $12 million. Even if he is willing to pay him $20, that will be done after other big deals eat up the free cap space.

Getting a Ben Simmons or Ingram would be so big for keeping AD here long term. Especially Simmons, his unselfishness and passing ability will make AD that much better from Day 1. A man can only dream.
