Are we thinking too small with Missi?

Clint Capella and Jarrett Allen are names that have been thrown around and seem like reasonable comps. Peak Capella averaged 15/14 and was 6th in DPOY voting, peak Allen is a 16/10 All Star that also is in the DPOY conversation. So I feel like I'm being greedy thinking Missi could be even more, but he just looks so good and has grown so much so fast.

Do any of y'all think his ceiling could be even higher than Capella/Allen?

My homer take is that Missi needs a good mid range to reach JA. However, as a project, I would want him over the summers to work on that 3pt shot. I've notice a lot over the last few games how teams are starting to drop in the PnR coverage leaving him alone for a second or two at the 3pt line. If he were to pull up and hit that at a 35% average would make him a very rich man.

He's without a doubt got a higher ceiling than Capela and JA. Reaching that is a whole different animal though.
Neither one of those guys are stealing the ball at mid court and dribbling and finishing like Missi did last night.
Missis has individual offensive potential that those two guys didn't have. I've been extremely impressed with his dribbling and footwork.

His ceiling is probably already higher than Capela and Allen.

If you mean his ceiling for developing an on ball offensive game, it's still too early to say but I think he has the tools based on the flashes he's shown. Need to learn to shoot better from the midrange. I don't think his handles will be good enough to be fancy with it but he has a good quick first step for line drives.

He looks so good, I believe he’s going to be able to become a stretch big with how fast his development has been. Play him 40 minutes a night.

His ceiling is much higher than Allen...but getting there is a different story.

I hate that I still have any hope when it comes to this franchise tho

He's got a much, much higher ceiling than Capela and JA for sure. Maybe he can develop some shooting stroke a la Embiid. Not sure who else to compare him to.

There’s nothing this dude could become that would surprise me. His agility for his size is absolutely wild. Hopefully he’s thinking “sky’s the limit” after this season. He’s way ahead of schedule.

I wanna see what he can do shooting. It'll be the difference between him being a max player or a defensive lob threat.

I wouldn’t get too excited there. Pretty rare for rim-runner big archetypes with poor FT% to develop a perimeter shot. Yves has good agility and athleticism, but that doesn’t mean he can shoot. We said the same thing with Dyson.

Agreed. It would be a pretty big outlier for a guy like Missi to become a good shooter. There just isn't a track record of rim running bigs becoming good shooters

TBH i just want him to get stronger, work on his passing and his defensive rebounding.

He's already an ELITE offensive rebounder, one of the best in the league as a rookie but his defensive rebounding is below average, most likely due to him needing strength.

Maybe the best pick of Griff's career when you consider we literally didn't have a center on the roster and he immediately filled that need with a guy that has tremendous upside like Missi

No, he’s putting up necessary numbers with his time allocated. Dudes getting starter numbers with starter minutes. Proud that he’s showing up for the pelicans though.
