I do not want D'antoni if that's what you're asking. If you're asking who I think we will hire...I have no earthly idea

D’Antoni is 10x the coach that Alvin Gentry is. We would be way better under him than we were under Alvin. Not sure if our personnel is right but we’d see more creativity.

I don't want being better than Gentry to be any type of bar though. I want a guy who has promise and will fit our personnel well.

D'antoni is the NBA's bridesmaid. Always a good teams that disappoint in the playoffs.

He'd have a ring if Chris Paul doesn't get hurt before game 7 against the Warriors.

That’s my argument for Nate McMillan (not saying he’s anywhere near #1 on my list), his teams may disappoint in the playoffs but he’s gonna at least develop a team that gets there.

D’Antoni isn’t #1 on my list either, but I wouldn’t mind the hire. Not sure why so many are against him.

I still think Griff and the front office want a coach that will run an uptempo offense. Knowing what we know, Zion probably fits better in this style of offense right now.

I'm only hesitant because of the type of teams he has fielded. Yes they had good success but we have nowhere near the shooting Houston had and I don't want to be a small ball team if that is his vision. I think he could help greatly with spacing but curious as to his plan with the 2 primary shot takers at the 3 and 4.

The team is still considered a top three point shooting ball club in both percentage and volume. So I don’t think a guy like D’Antoni would have any issues with the ability of this roster for what he wants to do.

But I do agree with you that the Pelicans should never go full retard and be a full time small ball team. This is where Griff’s control over the roster construction will supersede any coach that comes into town.

We have to remember D’Antoni made Capela work in that offense and has a history of adapting to whatever players he have available to him. So I’m not PO concerned about his ability to create an offense to elevate his players.

If there’s one thing D’antoni brings to the table that I like is the ability to give you a strong uptempo offense along with a varied and effective half court offense.

He’s never going to be a guy that you want in the long run. You also don’t want him to make radical changes to your roster. You‘d ideally want him to elevate your young players that are already there with his system. That’s what he’ll give you from day 1.

This was a preseason take on the Pels that didn't come true. We had plenty of shooting this past season.

We def are not in agreement.

None of us has a freaking clue the type of coach that Griff is looking for. All we know is he wants "buy in".

Outside of the initial report of Lue and Kidd that was likely somewhat BS, we haven't had a single leak. Every other job has had leaks except us.

So its hard to know what we are even looking for.

Where at?

It sort of makes sense for me that the Pacers go in a completely different direction and roll with Dantoni.

I think they have some REALLY interesting pieces to make that style work.

Just seent it:

quote:

[Pompey] Los Angeles Clippers assistant Ty Lue, former Oklahoma City Thunder coach Billy Donovan, and D’Antoni will be considered among candidates for the Sixers job, sources have said. However, the expectation is that D’Antoni will be hired by the Indiana Pacers, who fired Nate McMillan last month.

Its a really good fit IMO. I really want to see how they do.

It is WILD how quiet our search is when we were like the 2nd team to have an opening.

Makes you think the guy or couple of guys we are talking with and interested in are assistant coaches(Craig, Larranaga) or weaver. Guys who aren’t big names with agents trying to spread info out.
